"I talk about lots of stuff I wanna do that either happens years later or never happens at all. Happy to report RED STATE is not the latter.
First draft was dated 9/5/07. Looks like we start shooting this July. Took nearly three years, but we're finally gonna roll on RED."

If Smith can make it similar to the film I heard him speak about as an influence; "Race with the Devil", it could be really interesting. I'll hold out on his ability as a horror director until I see it.

nice teaser. they really need a better graphic designer to work on those title screens though.

Never though Kevin Smith would make a serious film. Looks interesting.

wow, this looks so unlike Smith. looks interesting and pretty creepy/disturbing

I would have never guessed it was his film. It's great to see him evolve as a director...for the first time.

JOHN GOODMAN!
MICHAEL PARKS!

Intriguing trailer. My ears are slightly perked for this.

looks like a student film.... not even an indy movie.

not sure why everyone is going crazy over this.
If kevin smiths name wasnt on it i think people might open there eyes a bit lol
michael parks is only in this because kevin knows quentin and rodriguez

i enjoyed the first clerks and dogma...he's a cool guy and all but im not sure what he's worse at writing or directing.

i'm a smith fan, but if you took his name off this i would still be fascinated by that trailer and the subject matter the film is tackling. and it looks AWESOME, it's lighting and camera work are reminiscient of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so the creepy, disturbing tone should pay off in spades. doesn't look like a student film at all. guess there's not enough cgi for ya...

also...who the hell cares why Parks is in it? he's going to give an amazing performance to a character that sounds fascinating.

It looks interesting , If I didn't know who the director was I'd also still want to see it.

I'm rooting for Kevin Smith.

I'm hoping he'll regain some of his status as a film-maker.

woooow. how funny that because its a Kevin Smith movie it gets so much positive praise.

it looks like a movie someoen filmed in kindergarten.

... When's the last time you've seen Kevin Smith get positive praise? I haven't seen one of his movies generally well-received since Dogma. I love all of his movies, but they haven't exactly been something everyone goes nuts for.

You show me a kindergartner that knows John Goodman and I'll show you my favorite kindergartner ever.

From the audio played at Red State q & a, the cage scene sounds disturbing.

how funny that because it's a Kevin Smith movie it gets dismissed so easily.

huh, wow guess it works both ways...

If this was Chris Nolan's film ppl would be *********ing to it non-stop. Please, stop with the ignorant and bias hating.

im not bias hating... just saying it looks like trash from the awful trailer
and im not sure why all his fans are drooling over this... other than the fact that kevins behind it.

really? Kevin Smith gets bashed and critisized all the time. not a huge fan of most of his work. the only movies by him i really liked was Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Clerks. everything else is pretty mediocre

however, this new film seems interesting

The subject matter is extremely interesting but i can't see this doing well at the box office.

It cost less than 4 million. It'll do fine, even if it has to make it's money on DVD. It'll do fine.

all his movies minus cop out have gotten good ratings by critics.
besides all the praise mostly comes from his fans.

the general audience doesnt watch his movies lol

Yeah, Red State will make it's money back no problem. Smith films normally take in 30Mil or so at the BO weekend.
