Kid's Comic Book Reviews

Why dislike the symbiotes? I love those guys. Toxin's my fave.

Screw Toxin and everybody that looks like him! :p

But seriously, the Symbiotes suck, I really wish somebody would destroy them all for good.

I like Carnage. He's Spider-Man's Joker and it works well for him. Of course, he's all dead or whatever.

Yea, he's dead because uh....Sentry ripped him in half....when uh....Symbiotes can't die that way....um...Bendis....bleepidy bleep...not following continuity....ba****y bash...doesn't know his butt from a hole in the ground.

Did I get the jist of Bendis bashing right?

Oh yea, by the way, Sentry sucks. :o

Just because he ripped him in half doesn't mean he's dead you know. He's just in orbit at the moment. Bringing him back is as easy as him falling from the sky and burning up upon re-entry, which would kill him.

I know, I just wanted to be a part of the Bendis bashing for once. :(

Oh, and for the record, I'm not a huge symbiote fan...but I have always been a Venom fan.

No he isn't, he's Spider-Man's unnecessary 90's super duper cool murderous villain aka Doomsday. The Goblin is his Joker.

With the exception of his first two appearances I never really cared for Venom, either. The whole symbiote thing never did it for me. But I can understand why the kid digs them so much. And for the next couple months he gets more Venom goodness than he could ever hope for with Amazing, Dark Origin and Ultimate

It's undisputable that Venom is hella wicked rad until you reach the age of 14 (give or take). It just combines too many of the things that kids think are awesome for us to reasonably expect them to be able to resist.

PS I found the blog charming. Your child is impressively articulate and his viewpoint is refreshingly direct.

[blackout]Little ****ers got his head right up his ass about the Hulk vs. Thor thing though.[/blackout]

Thanks a lot!

Hah

this kid knows whats going on.

and comics are getting WAY too expensive....

Wow ur kid's got talent. Also does he keep up with books or just pick out random issues?

He's pretty much been picking up just random issues except for the Loeb Hulk book and Amazing. He's perfectly fine with reading, say, 2 issues of Ultimate Spider-Man in a row, stopping a few months then picking it up again later.

The covers grab his attention first. If its a cool cover (to him) he picks it up and does a quick flip through. If both pass his test he adds it to his pile and reads em. I've never read Nova in my life but he was quite taken with the cover of 16 and it was one of the first books he read this week and one of his favorite. I enjoyed it, too. So he's opening my eyes up to books just as much as I am with him

with the exception of just about everything being "I like this, it's awesome" (which, is kinda ****ed up because that's basically how I do my reviews and I'm 22...), he's pretty good. You should really keep encouraging him to keep this up, as I can see him easily becoming a 'real' reviewer writing for magazines/news papers and the ilk. Kid's got a pretty good mastery of sentence structure and what not for being 7, so that's damned near impressive on it's own.

Updated with new reviews on Batman, Rogues Revenge and Marvel Adventures Superheroes along with his top ten films of the summer.

His review of Batman was great actually.

My only gripe is that in his top ten movies, he left out Wall*E which was one of the best movies of the summer. (Like most of Pixar's are)

Tell him to get his priorities straight! ;)

I was gonna dock him some points for reviewing Hulk #5 positively, but then I realized that he's pretty much the intended audience for it. I loved Power Rangers when I was young, after all.

Hah. Thanks!

He loves his Hulk. He got a pretty nice email from Jeph Loeb after the review, too so he thinks the character is even cooler now.

When we tallied up all the movies we saw over the summer we had 15 and he wanted to just focus on the top ten. I know it's not a popular opinion to have but he hated Wall-E. Just thought it was boring and silly. ;)

I hate when I like cartoons more than my kids.

Heh...I know how it is liking cartoons more than my kids also.

My daughter loved Wall*E, but most kids don't get that the movie is a throwback to the silent film era...and most kids don't care to know that either. :O

Yeah, I guess I could see how it might be boring to a kid. I loved it. I'm not one to get sentimental over movies, either, but I was captivated by Wall-E and EVE.
