King Kong{2005} Appreciation Thread

I have to give props to Naomi Watts also, because of her interaction with Kong makes you really believe that Kong really did exist.

Her performance was simply, when she looks at Kong, you can see the love she feels for him on her face, you'd think Kong was on set, its just amazing, top notch acting.

And some appreciation of Kong's ladies, past and present:

Not only are they nice to look at, they were all respected as actresses too.

^Naomi Watts is not only unbelievably spankable, but she's a great actress as well, she was just amazing in KK, her performance was Oscar worthy IMO, at the very least wortha nomination.

But, even though i didnt like the movie, Jessica Lange was absolutely gorgeous as well.

Yeah, but people were saying it was going to break bof offfice records, then the week after release Narnia beat it.

^I think at the time it was highly expected, the director of the LOTR trilogy, which had made billions, re-making one of the most well known and beloved movies of all time, you can see why people expected it, in the end, Narnia was more kid friendly, hence why it made more money.

True. Kong always has good taste in blondes. :)

Count me in as another who absolutely loves Jackson's 2005 King Kong film.

Havent seen the extended version yet, but I'll likely get around to picking it up fairly soon.

If it weren't for Jack Black, I would of loved the movie. Naomi Watts is my second all-time fav' actress and is absolutely incredible in this movie.

I know that Peter Jackson doesn't like the '77 KK, but it would've been nice if he had retained this scene for his remake. :woot:

Sorry, Naomi Watts is just so attractive. Excuse me while I get my mind off the gutter. :o

I agree that Black was miscast, but I still love this movie.

Finally watched the original film and it’s definitely a classic for a reason but I prefer King Kong 2005 more. I have to pay respect to the original because without it we wouldn’t have Peter Jackson’s version of course. I bought the the ultimate edition of the 05 film and plan to watch the extended version for the first time sometime this week.

This movie was really good. The hate it gets is just crazy.

Yeah, this was an awewome film.

I remember seeing the teaser countless times before the film and hyping myself up, as well as playing "Peter Jackson's King Kong" videogame from Ubisost and getting even more excited.

One of my favorite movies. I like every Kong movie expect Kong: Skull Island and King Kong Lives.

It definitely received an underserved backlash. After coming off the triumph of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, I guess that was bound to happen. It got great reviews upon release though and its box office was good, just hard to top what Rings had done.

Really enjoy the film on the whole.
Kong himself was a benchmark in CGI and performance capture. Making him a 20-30ft primate and not a 100ft tall walking on two legs monster was very clever.
The cast mostly works - agree that Jack Black was mis-cast but he's not terrible in it.
The sequences with the T-Rex's are brilliant.
Loses itself somewhat during the stampede with no need for added raptors.

My only criticism is that some scenes are a bit too over the top. The T-Rex fight for example. The part when they drop to the vines and continue fighting could have been cut.

I liked the movie but the third act dragged, they could have shaved off at least 10 minutes from it.

I still want a scene of how they got him on to the boat after they chloroformed him:funny:

I know King Kong (2005) and Kong The Skull Island are two different movies with little in common but I can't help but compare the two (to some extent).

Nothing against Brie Larson but,

Naomi Watts in King Kong > Brie Larson in Kong the Skull Island.
