Kingdom Come has an amazing story with even more amazing artwork (alex ross is the man). I just felt like opening a discussion on the comic. so please.......... discuss!

i just recently bought/read the tpb - truly an excellent piece of art

beautiful images from ross - great symbolism (Magog is essentially a Golden Calf - false idol - made to look like what Ross considered crappy new superhero design/attitude i.e. Cable)

I love how the Gulag looks a little like the old Legion of Doom hq from Superfriends - really draws the reader's conclusion that this superhero prison is probably not a good idea

i don't think it's a coincidence that it's Captain Marvel who has been led astray and must make the ultimate choice at the end. The entire series is a statement against what Marvel Comics was doing in the 90's and that they must make an important choice in their stories/characters

*lol* Believe it or not: I recently bought the comic, my first comic ever(!), got it delivered today and just finished reading the first two chapters. Now I come here and find this thread. :woot:

I have the softcover edition, with Supes fighting Shazam and tons of other heroes on it. I read through some of the commentaries, I didn't know that comic is almost ten years old!?

The story is awesome, I would love to see that in a few years as a movie. It really is something to think about and not just a simple DC story, it affects every hero and the true meaning of them. To have that kind of movie a few years after the introduction of the JLA would be great.

The artwork is fantastic. That's why i bought it in the first place. I'm not into comics, just read up about a bunch of Marvel and DC heroes over the last 2 years on the internet. But the unique drawings by Alex Ross convinced me to finally buy one. And as far as I can tell, I hit the jackpot.

I love the art

1. Because Alex Ross is an amazing artist.

2. Because every panel is jam-packed with DC references and symbolism.

And somehow I have found a thread where I look like a veteran poster.
Y'all should try searching "Kingdom Come" next time before making anohter thead about it. Not trying to be a smart-ass. Just Letting oyu know.

Stop being an ass.

Welcome guys, hope you enjoy the Hype!

Anyways,if you guys really dig Ross' art, check out a book called Mythology. It's a semi bio of Ross and has bios on alot of DCU characters.Beautiful Ross art too and it's oversized. It's around 25 bucks and well worth it.

Never got the golden calf reference until now.Very cool.

Oh come on, I wasn't being an ass. There are dozens of Kingdom Come threads. The freshman gotta learn too.

But yes, welcome to the hype.

Kingdom Come is quite simply the greatest Superman story of all time.

I lost my copy of the TPB a couple years ago, and only picked up a new copy this week. I've been looking for some of the supposed Easter-eggs in the artwork, but so far the only one I've found is the Watchmen reference.

Anywho, yes, KC is absolutely amazing, and still stands as my favorite comic of all time.

Awesomeness. Now to start scouring through my TPB and finding them.

every ****ing noob in the DC boards makes a KC thread, I did it too, its okay. Its what brought me back, its what will bring millions more.

Wizard once puiblish ALL the easter eggs references, think it's online somewhere

The link I posted has all the easter eggs. A page by page who's who. And a bunch of other nice little touches.

I never knew how much detail is in Kingdom Come until I saw that site.

I heard that Jonah Hex`s body is on display at the Planet Krypton restaraunt, but i did not notice it.Ill have to get my copy and see if i can find it.

Great story,i would sort of call it DC Universe:The End

KC rules

and I love that DCD reinvigorated the KC Action figures in their Elsworlds line

I gotta say that this is the best comic story I've ever read. And my fav Superman also. And well the art speaks for it's self.

Kingdom Come is one of the best graphic novels to this day. The Absolute edition has so much awesome art and reveals. Its great.

Definitly not the end but a new beginning.

Im going to have to read this, it sounds real good...

I read Hush, I thought it was good up until the ending.

alex ross is my hero. i could never do comic art and it annoyed me no end that i could draw the exact likeness of a face but not do it in comic form. i guess it was because i grew up on jim lee's style. then i saw alex ross' art that could be photo realistic, it gave me hope i could do it and inspired me to get better. i love on his website he has a stp by step guide as to how he paints them- it takes him 4 days per page! i'd therefore buy this even if the story was bad.
