Jamie Foxx will star in The Kingdom for Universal Pictures, reports Variety. The film to be directed by Peter Berg (The Rundown, Friday Night Lights), produced by Michael Mann and written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, is aiming for a May start date.

Foxx will play the leader of a team of U.S. counter-terrorism investigators who set out to find the perpetrators behind a deadly attack on Americans in a Middle Eastern country. In order to work through the bureaucracy and cultural hostility, the team enlists a local police officer, but still find itself target for the terrorists.

The film marks the third in which Mann and Foxx have worked together. Foxx co-stars with Colin Farrell in Mann's upcoming Miami Vice adaptation, scheduled for release July 28. He also co-starred with Tom Cruise in Mann's Collateral, released last year.

Foxx is set to appear alongside Beyonce Knowles and Eddie Murphy in Dreamgirls for DreamWorks and Paramount.

you did that title on purpose?

Wasn't Foxx also in Ali, directed by Michael Mann?

Mann and Foxx are like Raimi and Campbell now. :o

Sounds cool. I like your avatar Hunter

Jennifer Garner Off To The Kingdom
Joins the Jamie Foxx thriller
Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Jennifer Garner is getting back into film work after taking time out to have a baby. After starring in Susannah Grant’s Catch & Release (which will now not be released until next year) and providing a voice for upcoming classic kids’ novel adaptation Charlotte’s Web, she’s jumping into The Kingdom alongside Jamie Foxx and Chris Cooper.

Peter Berg’s film features an FBI team working to find those responsible for a bomb that killed Western workers in a Middle Eastern city, whose job is not made any easier by an uncooperative local populace. Berg plans to crank his cameras in June.

awesome title for the thread HR :o

Cool, it has Bateman on it. But still, the story seems kinda boring.

Jason Bateman? Wouldn't except him in a movie like this, great to see it though.
