I may not have the best taste in games. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I have no taste in games, but for me personally, this is my favorite game ever. Admitedly though, you do probably not share my appreciation, I dont know how most people view the KH series, but I just thought I'd post my thoughts, because I bought it last week, and it's so much fun!

Unlike the original, which I thought was also pretty darn good, the gameplay doesnt get repetitive very easily, down to some new controls, and they've also tweaked some other things to make it better. Sometimes I think there's a few too many cut scenes...but then I keep playing, and just it doesnt bother me at all!

Has anyone else played it? I'd like to know people's views- good and bad!

I just found out yesterday that the chick that does Kiari's voice is the Claire hotty from Heroes

The game is awesome. the whole series is awesome. but you have to complete everything in it to get the full experience. its amazing. great character designs. amazing story with twists and turns. mind-blowing visuals.

10/10 IMO

I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting into this game, as opposed to the first one which just sucked me in. It takes a long time to get going, but so far it does seem good. How long is KH2? and is it longer then KH1?

that was my problem too. It took way too long for the story to start as that intro just kept going and going. When playing the game, it felt alot longer than KH1. I thought it was too long and that they fit too much into it but when I was done, it wasnt that much longer than KH1. I cant remember the time I had on my save file

The intro is a big downside. its only good when you play it for the first time. after that i can never be bothered

- The intro sucks,
- the revisited worlds are weaker than the originals,
- its too easy
- the plot is an extremely bogged down mess.
- gameplay is far more repetetive (bash X!!!!!!!, mash triangle!!!!!!)
- limits and transormations only cover up the shallow gameplay
- pacing is slow
- camera work and maps make the game far less epic.

But, it is Kingdom Hearts 2, so its not that bad.

KH1: 10
KH2: 7

(I played the original 3 times, and I won't touch this ever again.)

Yeah I played that whole bit with Roxas....then the title of the game came up! I said to my mate next to me 'that was just the opening??'

Though after that I really got into it. I might say that it is too easy, but that's a good thing for a casual gamer like me. I had trouble with KH 1 because I kept having to use the strategy guide.

The only reason the ntro might be slow/suck to you is because you kind of have to play Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories on Game Boy Advance for the story in between KH and KH2.

Despite the opening, the game still has serious flaws (see list above).

^The list of the so-called flaws are just complaints based on opinions.

Yes those are my opinions, but play the original and the sequel in quick succession and deny that I speak the truth.

Please justify any problems with the list.

I elaborate in about 30 mins

- The intro sucks,

This seems to be the general conscensus of the thread so far, so I'm not alone. I understand keeping the narrative across sequels, but accross platforms? Come on its a weak attempt to for people into buying the GBA prequel.

We invest so much time with Roxas and his crew, but they have no effect on the core plot whatsoever after their quick dissappearance. We get some half ass speculation and "intrigue" concerning the trohpies (why?) and the 'haunted mansion' (a poorly explaned nexus point to a later level) could easily be forgotten.

Aslo When Roxas and his crew disappear, there is no feel of loss as with Aerith in FF7, because they simply dissappear.... no drama.

- the revisited worlds are weaker than the originals,

- Hollow Bastion: What happened to the epic castle? The puzzles? A poor hub for the game in comparison to the Traverse Town, it lacks any romance or hidden areas.

- Olympus: The tournaments are easier to complete, and whilst there is more of this world than before, it consists of dank plain caverns.

- Atlantica: The whole world has now become a series of childish minigames. Nuff said.

- Agrabah: Is smaller, plainer, and has less puzzles, the cave of wonders is almost non-existant.

- Halloween Town- It is different to say the least, but it is home to the worst boss fight in the game, and lacks the scale and darkness of the original

- its too easy

Fair enough, thats down to skill level and experience. (But see gamplay below).

- the plot is an extremely bogged down mess.

Mostly to do with the opening, but all the way through, the war between the hearltess and the nobodies ruins the dynamcis of the first game (IMO).
If you want to create more various enemies, just do it with the heartless, keep the simple status quo, us vs them so to speak.

There are stupid retcons: Ansem/Xehanort, The big evil witch
(I momentarily forget her name) rejuvinated.

The endless FMVs don't really go anywher and there are too many

- gameplay is far more repetetive (bash X!!!!!!!, mash triangle!!!!!!)

The biggest problem:

To attack, mash X. Same as last time, (fair enough) although I had to use more agility last time round.

Stuck in a tight situation? Mash X. Not working? Initiate damage inducing FMV via Triangle. Rinse and repeat.

What makes this new feature suffer though, is the lack of accuracy required to activate the moves, if your expecting the option to show, you can just mash triangle until it hits. If the option was timed, and the attack a reward for fast relexes, awesome.

The special moves that I loved in the last game (eg Ragnorok etc) instead of being activate by you due to strategy, timing or by skill have also become traingle mashing sequences.

- limits and transormations only cover up the shallow gameplay

Limits- same as above, with a much longer FMV and more slightly damage, for nostalgia purposes only. On the plus side you do become invincible.

Transformations/DBZ Fusion Rip-off: Stat boosting fusions that allow you to mash X and occaisionally square faster and with prettier swirls. Require tedious bossting for minimal awards.

- camera work and maps make the game far less epic.

The camera (whislt admittedly being slightly more functional) is too high up, with a more God-like perspective, the first game had us down with Sora on his level fighting the fight with him. Here I feel as though I'm his puppeteer.

The smaller scale maps don't help either.

That said, there are some interesting boss battles, good cameos and the new worlds are generally absolutely awesome in design and execution.

I don't mean to come off as arrogant cos I'm not. I'm just bitterly dissapointed with the game I built myself up for. The sequel of one of my fave games ever.

Sorry to rain on the parade Miss Richards, as you obviously have good taste, but I implore you to try out the original as well.

Please argue away, I want to be convinced otherwise.

i dont think theres anything wrong with this game, and there was nuffin wrong with introducing the nobodies its gives more variation to who you fight. and organisation XIII are cool lol :D

This is my favourite game ever. The complaints you guys are listing are not valid imo, or at least they didnt bother me.

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories takes place between 1 and 2, and the ending to that game leads into the intro for 2. It was interesting because at first the gamer isnt quite sure what is going on, if this is the twilight town from castle Oblivion, or the real town or something else. It was awesom learning what Roxas was, and the scene where he finally meets Sora before Sora awakens was breathtaking.(plus christopher lee as diz was perfect)

Anyone who can complain about a game like this is paying to much attention to little details, or something because i cant find flaws with either Kingdom Hearts 1 or 2, but thats just my opinion.

I played the original again right before 2 came out and Kingdom hearts 2 is an obvious progression in both story and gameplay. The story of the sequal can keep gamers who are not the hugest fans of disney entertained because of its darker avenues. The game play is also much better, the movement is more fluid and the camera has been assigned to a joystick instead of the l2 r2 buttons. I dont see how that makes the game any less epic, same camera just easier to control.

With better graphics, a better soundtrack, the introduction of organiz 13 and the nobodies, and the same good old voice acting from the first one, Kingdom hearts 2 is the ultimate gaming experience that tells a very cinematic story( and leaves things open for another sequal) For those who find the game to easy, play it on proud. It isnt as challenging as, say, legendary on Halo 2, but its still challenging enough to warrant another play through, plus collecting the extras alone is awesom.

The perfect blend of Final Fantasy and Disney.

By the way, in Japan Kingdom hearts 2 final mix comes out in march. It may hit north america next fall but it hasnt been confirmed. Mostly final mix is an updated version of the game, with an organization 13 battle arena, an extra world, more drives, limits, cut scenes and other things. It also has an increased difficulty and a new secret movie for the next entry in the Kingdom Hearts series.

It also ships with a 3d version of chain of memories for ps2.

Fair enough, I know I'm minority.

I'm looking forward to KH3 though.

How ace would that be on next gen?

Thats funny. I felt like KH1 was definately longer. KH2 bords are too short and are cleared way too easily. I love both games(5/5 for both)but I like part one much more.

No, I agree with you.
Storywise, gameplaywise, and difficulty wise, KH2 is obviously inferior.
I still love the game, but it felt like the developers rushed it a little.
The levels=not even half as long as the originls\
The enemies=super easy. Even on Proud. Sephiroth=the only challenge.
The story=Well, I personally like parts ones better.
Triangle button=Makes the game that much easier. I wish it was like the Qte on games like Shenmue.
But still I love both games, though KH2 seemed like it was rushed.

maybe KH2 felt longer bc I didnt enjoy it as much so I kept anticipating for it to end. I also pretty much played both games back to back so it was almost like one long game experience

Really? I played both games over back to back not to long ago to see which ones better/longer. I can't remember my exact game time, but because of the bigger worlds KH1 felt like it was longer.

Thats what I did, I made sure I completed KH1 100% before I started KH2, that may be why we notice the differences more.

I was playing Kingdom Hearts 2 last night and i was talking to Cloud and i figured out what your avatar was:woot: .

For the guy above who said the kh2 levels are half as long as the levels from 1: You visit each world twice in Kh2, both visits added together are about the length of the worlds in kh1, in KH1 you just visited each world once.
