jono11 said:You once said you supported socialism. So you would support the EXACT SAME THING if it was done along the lines of class instead of race? Because, you know, functionally, it would just be a broader reparations.
It's not reparations. It's running a responsible economy and taking care of our poor regardless of what color they are. Blacks suffer from poverty more often than whites do, so yes if my policies were in effect, they would see most of the benefits, but the help you get is not decided by race. It's decided by income. it's not revenge for the past, it's protecting the future and protecting our citizens of every race.
But they inherit socioeconomic status, and that's what's really key here.
that's part of why I support AA, but you take it to the level of discrimination.
not every white person's life is the same and neither is every black person's.When you say that white people do not benefit from the legacy of slavery...yeah, you actually do. That's pretty much the universal opinion of sociologists.
What about "we want justice for us, right now"? Does that sound better to you? Because that's what reparations is.
I would say to this "us" I never did anything to you in my entire life. I want a job, you want a job, let's go get one. there are rich and poor balck and white people. a big part of the gap between incomes is that 1% of the country that is rich who inherited money. Almost every single white person in america did not inherit wealth like that. go after their wallets, not the middle and lower class. you said "all white people" that's wrong and discriminatory.
I'm not going to reiterate my proof. It's been posted in both threads. If you can't read, you can't read.
you didn't give even one example of how I'm happier than I would have been had slavery never happened.
jono11 said:That's very nice, and irrelevant. Race is a social construction, but most people don't believe that yet. People still see race as biological.
And also, don't go being high-and-mighty. We're all racists. It's how the mind works. It's conditioned in us. Everybody is a little bit racist--sounds like a joke, but it's true.
What are the major bological differences between a white male from England and a black male from Nigeria, besides skin color?VigilanteArtist said:You're accusing others of being "high and mighty?" That's a laugh. You're one of the most pretentious, "holier than thou" people I've ever seen on these boards.
And why do people tend to view race as biological construct, and not a social construct? Well, maybe it's because it's a real thing, besides skin tone, we have different skeletal structures, etc. Race is NOT a social construct, RACIAL INEQUALITY IS.
To deny racism and promote equality is a good thing. However, to say race is not a product of biology is nothing more than blind and willful ignorance, despite what sociologists say. Anyway, sociology is not as respected as it once was, maybe that's why it's now considered a dying field.

All this thread has spawned is more racism and ignorant, half-baked comments more suited to the actual racists of the world. White people are not privileged, slavery has no bearing on how far a black man can get nowadays. Cracker is just as bad as n-gger, because both of them are rooted in racism.
Personally, double-standards are for idiots. If you're going to get pissed at Kramer for saying the "n"-word, then you might as well get pissed at every black comedian who has said 'cracker' or 'honkey'. There's no difference between them.
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
I know what he said. Take out the n word...and it would have been just Kramer goes on a rant and it would have been over in a day. But because he put that one word in there...it turned into racism. I have cursed out people before, but once you throw in a racist word...it takes it to a new level. Sad thing is...those hecklers started it and will go unpunished. I feel bad for Richards but he shouldn't have said those things.tzarinna said:He didn't just say the n-word,he said a lot more.

I disagree to a point. It is still a demeaning word. Both words bring down that certain race. There are tons of descensitizing names out there. For one of them to be more bad is crazy...especially when the race using that word is fighting for equality.deemar325 said:Generally speaking your right, but the truth of the matter N-word has far more power than Cracker as a word.
Plus racism is as much about who has/had power over another race then just personal prejudice.

It's not a double standard it's a matter of 400 years of tyranny, oppression, rape, enslavement, white supremacy, and unimaginable injustice. Saying the words cracker and n--ger are the just as bad is ignoring the historical context completely. When white people are humaliated, oppressed, and terrorized for 500 years THEN the words will be equal.Extromaniac said:Bah.
