LAIKA's next is "Kubo the Two Strings"

Who studios choose to hire has real life effects outside of the film.

Art Parkinson did a fine job but so could have many different actors.
He did the job they wanted. It is conjecture to say someone else could have given them what they were looking for.

alot of the avatar the last airbender voice cast was white too this feels like conjured up outrage:whatever:

Mostly I think Laika has a relationship with a certain casting director. I don't think it's a coincidence that two films in a row have starred kids from Game of Thrones.

That just shows how widespread the trend is.

I just want to reiterate that I really enjoyed the film.

I just watched the film with the family and thought it was an amazing film. I have a problem with the ending, tough. Eyes were obviously a significant focus throughout the movie with scars, stolen eyes, & blind eyes, but what was the significance of the 3 strings he used and how he used it to transform granddaddy from an inmortal? He obviously had a real eye at the end along with the fuzzy memory....

Looks like this my movie may have legs after all. I think it'll make its budget back domestically (I hope). Actually the last two movie missed their budgets by 10 million or so and the international BO covered the rest.

Saw it today, loved it.

If two of the strings represent parents, then my guess is that the third represented the child. The granddady didn't have any eye, Kubo used the strings to give him one, which probably was the eye that had been stolen from Kubo before the events of the film.

The three strings at the end were his father's bowstring, his mother's hair and Juno's own hair. In the end Kubo rejects the warrior narrative and instead takes control of his own story, using the magic of his own art to transform his grandfather. His strength and the strength of the whole village was rooted in the power of memories.

A fan tribute to the amazing visual feast that is Laika's KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS, featuring the cover of George Harrison's WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS by REGINA SPEKTOR:
