The Ferrell movies slipped my mind. Talladega Nights gets all the fame, but Semi-Pro is just as good.

"Goddammit, Vakidis! Learn ****in' English!"

We've all been here at one time or another:

A tale as old as time.

Boy meets girl. Boy loses girl. Boy gets involved in tragic biking accident with forest black bear.

@KRYPTON INC. @flickchick85 @Reek

I have finished catching up on my TV backlog, so I wanted to get back to running through the classic movies of my misbegotten youth. Last time you guys gave me a list and I picked and chose the ones I wanted to watch, which in hindsight I don't think was a great idea. It just meant that I watched movies I tend to watch anyways, and didn't really step out of my comfort zone.

So I'm asking you each to pick maybe 5 or 6 movies each, and I'll watch them all. It can be any genre or type of film, the only thing I ask is that you keep it in the time period I'm looking for, which is basically 1984 to 1997. Anything in there is fair game, and I'll give it a shot. Also, I'm looking to catch up on the classics I've missed, so maybe avoid any hidden, underrated gems and focus more on the big guns. A thousand thanks in advance, and I will build several churches in your honour. Anyone else is also free to throw out suggestions, of course, and I'll throw them onto the queue.

KRYPTON, you've already given me suggestions, but I'm trusting you with picking any movies you want. Do not betray me on this. The consequences will be non-existent.

Also, I guess I'll add that movie that @InCali kept repeatedly suggesting, which I can't remember the name of at the moment.

And KRYPTON, just put the list here. It doesn't need to be a PM, it's not a secret.

If the previous choices I suggested are null then...

Miller's Crossing (1990)

Serpent And The Rainbow (1988)

Fresh (1994)

The Color Purple (1985)

Amazon Women On The Moon (1987)

Big Night (1996)

Eclectic enough I hope for your purposes.

They're not null, I was just saying that you didn't have to keep them as your picks if you had others you preferred more.

I will smoke the herb and consult the gods.

If I can get 4 people to give me 8 movies each, I can do a March Madness-style bracket of 32 movies. Winning the ultimate prize: my subjective approval.

Stop yelling at me! I'm very sensitive!

I'm going to say 8. Also, if you could, rank them 1-8. It's important for my great plan.
Ok before I do, I need to verify that you have seen Die Hard and Robocop as I suspect you have?

Mulholland Drive
Once Upon a Time in America (long ver counts for two)
Blazing Saddles
Goodfellas
Hugo
The Hollywood Shuffle
Aaaaaaaand…..Where’s Poppa? That’s the one I mentioned. I think you’re heading to an asylum if you watch 32 movies. Look what it’s done to @C. Lee

I've seen Goodfellas. It's one of my favourite movies. I know this because I will stop to watch it if I come across it on TV. The true mark of excellence.

Alrighty, here's my first pass. I'm sure you've seen a few if not all of them, so let me know which ones and I'll replace them:

1.) Schindler's List (1993)
2.) Fargo (1996)
3.) 12 Monkeys (1995)
4.) Jurassic Park (1993)
5.) The Princess Bride (1987)
6.) A Fish Called Wanda (1988)
7.) Lethal Weapon (1987)
8.) Heat (1995)

Jurassic Park is my favourite movie. I've seen it a billion times. I also saw Schindler's List in high school Religion class. The rest are good. Lethal Weapon has been on in the background when I was a kid, but I'm not going to count that as seen, so it's good to stay.

Ooooohhhh. Wow. Not surprisingly, this is very very good.

Clueless is good to stay, but I've seen Silence of the Lambs.

Clueless is good to stay, but I've seen Silence of the Lambs.
I wouldn’t even begin to tell you the f’ed up dream I had after watching Silence. I let my kids watch basically anything they wanted when they were young, but that was one of the few that was off limits
