A History Channel documentary on the real life story of 300 spartans (7000 total Greeks) fighting the Persian Empire.

So far this has been a good show, going into the armor, tactics, weapons, etc, including the warriors of the time.

Some scenes seem to come right out of the movie trailers at time, only on the History Channel's budget. It's a 2 hour program.

From what I can tell, it's being replayed at 5PM on Saturday the 10th.

If was informitive, but way too long, and tries to emulate the movie with digital screen work, but without the talent and style it came off cheezy at times. I bet the haters from the 'History of 300' thread loved it.

I'll have to catch the replay on this, it sounds interesting.

it would be pretty interesting to watch a more firmly grounded rendition of the story

THANK YOU! Read gates of fire by Steven Pressfield, Histories by Heroditus, and wikipedia article on the battle!

I watched it. It was kinda cool. :yay:

I just finished watching it. I liked it alot.

It was actually one of the better history channel productions I've seen.

I just set a reminder for this. Looking forward to it. I often prefer the recount of what happened in a historical account rather than the Hollywood version that tries to hedge that with entertainment. Still on the fence about the movie.
