Comics Least favorite roster members...

You know it is funny, in a post below "You're the writer," I asked folks to outline who they would put in a team that they put together.

So far, no one has mentioned Gambit. And I am so glad... I have always heard that he is one of the more popular characters, but I have never liked him. Likewise, only one has mentioned Rogue... again a character I have never warmed to like so many others have (at least so it would seem).

A couple of questions:

Why is Gambit so popular? (and was he actually as popular as Marvel thought he was?)

Give me a list of your least favorite roster members.

Okay here is mine:

Gambit
Cable
X-Man
Rogue (I have to say that I like Rogue, but I feel like she has been way over exposed and is just not that interesting of a character)

Storm is definitely one of the characters I can't stand these days. I'm drawing a blank however when it comes to other characters. Jean Grey doesn't always jibe with me either, I'll say, and Gambit hasn't really been up to snuff lately.

Storm definitely. I'm glad shes off. I just don't really get why so many people are obsessed with her when shes a fairly one-note (i.e. "I am a Goddess, FEAR ME!") character in my opinion.

Beast currently isn't doing much for me either since he doesn't seem to have much of a purpose. I've also never read any great Bishop stories and he hasn't been doing anything of importance on Uncanny, so him too I guess.

LOL! That is her favorite saying. She is my favorite character because she has a good heart. She knows what needs to be done and will stand for what she believes in. And when she says "I am the goddess" and stuff like that, I know it gets annoying sometimes but that also shows that she's incontrol with her powers and is "ONE" with them. But i'd say my lest favorite is Nightcrawler. I just don't find his character all that interseting anymore.

Well Storm will always be my favorite no matter what. Even though I hated her a little i X-treme X-men. Although I never read with her and Black Panther, it sounds good from what i've been hearing others say. And Jean is dead now soooo... But another character I don't like much is Rogue. Her character isn't all thatinterseting either and her personality made a drastic change from years ago. I think I like her when she first came out.

To me, it greatly depends on whose writing the character. In the hand of a good writer I could find them interesting.

Off the top of my head

Archangel- Without the metal wings he is boring as hell
Cyclops- I been extremely disappointed with Scott for the last 5 years (I will admit that Joss did bring back some of my intrests)
Nightcrawler He really need a good storyline to breath freash air into him.

Rachel-Sorry i have hated her from day 1 she is nothing but a cheap shadow of her mother.

Bishop-Hasnt done anything since onslaught...just stands around in the background with nothing to do. give him a story or send him back to his own timeline and end his arc for good.

Sage-GIANT PLOT DEVICE.....hate her.

Storm- I hate all this crap with black panther...its really terrible and nobody bar the storm-panther fans gives a flying crap about the wedding. Bring her back were she belongs already.

Bar a handfull of X-men[the axm team plus a few more] havent been doing anything intresting in the past few years imo.

I agree completely with you Optic Rage.

I mean, just looking at the current roster, can anyone give me a really cool Beast moment recently? Or even from the past 3 or 4 years? Doubtful.

The only characters who've had any real development lately are Psylocke, Marvel Girl, Emma Frost, and maybe Gambit just recently since they kicked him off the book.

You could make cases for the rest of them, but IMO many/most of the current X-Men are just there because they're there and could easily be replaced by another mutant. Specifically: Beast, Bishop, Cannonball, Rogue, Iceman, Colossus (except as Kitty's bed buddy), Havok, and even Nightcrawler lately.

You are sooooo freakin' right! I never liked the Black Panther issues. But some people make it sound good because of the wedding and stuff. I'm thinking about buying ONE issue of it and reading it. It sounds interseting but before I started hearing how good it is, I didn't like it at all.

I wouldn't want anyone with the same powers on a team. I mean, sometimes I would like Pyro and Sunfore on a team but thats sometimes.

I dont have least favorite X-men. I just think some writers dont know how to write some characters. There are soo many X-men that each of them can be cool but have been relegated to the background for the "cool" characters.
