She wasn't necessarily a Communist. But she did visit prisoner camps that looked realtively nice (which had been cleaned up before her visit) and so claimed POWs were lying about the conditions in them. Ultimately the debate was whether she knew the camps were cleaned up for her to view, or if she was lying on purpose. She also posed on an (enemy, mind you) antiaircraft gun, and was acting buddy-buddy with enemy soldiers.

Also, there alot of urban legends that some US soldier passed her a note (depending on the story for his family, to the government back home, to her to tell her they were being tortured, etc.) and she turned it over to the North Vietnamese; he was supposedly killed for it. The truthfulness is pretty dubious to those stories though.

The way I see it, if she wasn't purposely lying, then I agree with you. Some of her actions were in poor taste, but not really traitorous.

If she was lying, well, that's another case entirely.
