Left 4 Dead 2

If you pre-ordered a digital copy or retail copy of either platform, you basically get the demo a week early, for those who didn't pre-order the game, it is released one week afterwords, to everyone.

Spent about an hour or so in the demo, The weapons and physics seem noticeably better. When you throw a pipe bomb, unlike in the first one were they would just blow up into smudge the bodies all go flying into the air, it's pretty cool. The physical hit boxes of the zombies are also better you can blow off there heads and legs and what not the zombies body's react better to the environments around them. There were quite alot of weapons in the demo, there alot more satisfying to use and in general, modeled better i.e. the shotgun doesn't look like it's made for a midget anymore. Melee works pretty well, the machete in particular was pretty fun as it takes there heads clean off. There waqs a thing some guy used that was a pickup and he threw it on the witch and it started attacking zombies, the witch was wandering around then mopiing in a corner.

It's pretty much the same jist as the type of gameplay as the first one some gameplay diffrence, aside from the specail infected there were a couple of armoured zombies that didn't seem to take damage when shot. The cresendo event at towards the end of the game was also diffrent, instead of holding up to wait for the them we set off an alarm thing and had to run around a maze thing to turn it off. The AI director on the second run through spawn a charger inside the saftey door thing. The improvements seem mosty focused around gameplay improvements and content. Although it didn't seem to use the procedural generated content like weather and changing map structure.

While using a melee weapon did you miss having a pistol?

I found the melee weapons to be more fun, although the handguns don't feel like pee shooters anymore, duel wielding is better that magnum gun is one hit kills but needs reloaded constantly as it only had 5 rounds. Weirdly, when you get incapacitated you have a gun even if it it was swapped for a melee weapon. The weapons are just better in general, the only weapon that felt like it had real kick to it in the original left4dead was the shotgun, pretty much every weapon has "oomph" effect to it in the demo.

Yeah, it's a problem with Valve's servers apparently. If you go in your game settings and switch to local server it should help.

I played it once today but it was horribly laggy.

Good, I thought I was the only one that experienced that lag. It wasn't there before it came out for Gold members so I'm hoping it was just because either tons of people were playing it and/or people were downloading it.

Got the demo now. For the two maps they gave, it was just awesome. Very fun, very fast paced. Cannot wait for two weeks.

I dug the whole mini-finale on the second map. Adds alittle more excitement to the earlier maps of the campaign. Can't wait to get my hands on this game.

Man the melee weapons, specifically the guitar and the machete, are just so satisfying to use. Between MW2 and this? I'm going to have no time left for anything. :awesome:

A couple of questions...

1. Does anyone think that this game is a lot easier than the first one?

2. Does anyone know if all of the levels are set during the day?

1.) I haven't played the demo yet so I don't know.
2.) No, there's some levels at night, day & the morning. There's also a map where it randomly rains (& if it pours a horde comes) which makes it look like night.

I really don't think part two is gonna be easier. If anything it seems that its alittle harder. Those ****ing Spitters and Jockeys love to team up on the survivors. Also I don't know if anyone else has this problem but those armored swat zombies are a pain in the ass.

Ah, thank you. While I would never call Left 4 Dead scary, I do think it had a pretty creepy atmosphere. And to me, the daytime setting really robs Left 4 Dead 2 of that. But now I know that's not the case for the whole game. :yay:

The swat zombies are a piece of cake. Shoot them in the back.

Anybody ready for release at midnight??

Won't be able to get it at midnight but I'll definitely get it sometime tomorrow.

The crescendo parts of the game seem to be more difficult.

There are a few night levels.
Hard rain becomes progressively darker, it's quite atmospheric, mostly due to the rain.

The game is awesome but the music flat out sucks now. =( Granted I've only done the first campaign.

I also miss the old witch cry.
