Left 4 Dead 2

I finally played this for the first time last night. Got through 3 of the campaigns--"Dead Center," "Dark Carnival," and "Hard Rain." Holy bats*** monkey nuts, "Hard Rain" is crazy.

I love that video.

Anyone else here love Scavenge mode? I just wish there was more maps for it. It's my new favorite mode in L4D.

X10: The Passing Interview

Feb 17, 2010
Some familiar faces show up to give you a helping hand in The Passing downloadable content.

Bringing this tread back from the gravvvvvvve. and they eat braaaaaaaaaaaains.

BTW the M60 isn't the only new gun coming to this game. I and a buddy that played with two girls on steam got two new sniper weapons which I think were of German making and one new machine gun with a scope on it. that later gun became my new fave along with that buddy of mine. We were playing dark carnival at the time.

But I can't wait for the m60. and this new dlc will be a lead up to the new cross play later between l4d and l4d2 in spring. I get to play luis again with new weapons. damn can't wait. OK enjoy the video.

I'm looking forward to taking Francis into the deep south. I'm really glad they decided to bring the L4D characters into L4D2.

Awesome news. Especially like the idea of those "fallen survivor" infected.

On GameTrailers TV last night, Valve announced details on the third DLC for Left 4 Dead. Surprise, you'll also be able to play it with Left 4 Dead 2.

"The Sacrifice" ties in with the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC "The Passing." It chronicles the events leading up to that content from the perspective of the L4D1 cast. At the end, you get to decide which of the quartet must die to save the others.

The storyline will be set up by a 150+ page digital comic. It will be released over time in four parts, starting in September. In addition to chronicling the events of the DLC, the comic provides a look at the backstory of each of the L4D1 survivors.

"Sacrifice" will be released in October. As mentioned earlier, it will be playable with both L4D1 and L4D2. Owners of L4D2 will also get the "No Mercy" campaign from the first game.

The DLC will be free for PC and Mac owners. Xbox 360 owners will have to shell out some dough, though.

I'm so freaking excited to play No Mercy with L4D2 infected. I'm totally chargin' somebody off a rooftop. I also can't wait for the Spitter to ruin my camping strategies in the last two levels. :awesome:

I wish one of the mutations is adding slow zombies and is all vs all and highest kill-counts win. That would be cool.

Cold Stream

February 16, 2011 - L4D Team

Sorry for the recent lack of updates, we have been working on a surprise and here it is.

Matthew Lourdelet (2 Evil Eyes) has been working on a new community campaign – Cold Stream. We loved 2 Evil Eyes and Cold Stream looks even more promising with innovative game play arenas and effects. Matthew has really shown that there are still plenty of new ideas in L4D2 modding.

He recently shared it with us and we love it so far but it isn’t done. We were tempted to have him quietly finish it with our help and release it as part of an upcoming DLC.

Tempted… but we decided against that. Instead, we think we have a better idea. We want you the community to be part of the process of taking his unfinished campaign and releasing it as DLC on the Xbox 360, PC and Mac.

Since Matthew already has a start on the campaign, we need to back up a little in the process before we go forward.

The very first step in creating a new DLC is deciding on the larger goals and constraints for the DLC. The Sacrifice and the Passing were story heavy, so we want to see what the other end of the spectrum looks like. For this DLC we start with wanting to experiment by releasing a map pack that wasn’t about story. It would just be new campaigns for Left 4 Dead 2.

That makes the first constraint no new audio or story.

The easiest starting point for new campaigns is the three remaining Left 4 Dead 1 campaigns, so the DLC will include those. We also want something brand new and Cold Stream is the perfect fit.

That’s the start of the DLC. We have the basic information but we don't even have a name or release date yet.

We will hold off on the name for now.

That leaves the release date. The answer to when the DLC will be released is simple for now, sometime after Portal 2. Why don’t we set some date in stone right now? Because the real answer to when we are going to release something is always – when it’s ready.

Quality is a function of time and resources. So we can throw more people at the problem and/or take longer. We like to not constrain ourselves by either, so at this point we are willing to say - “Let’s not set a date yet, we’ll know better later.” Of course, that is also why the concept of Valve Time exists but later you will see why “Valve Time” is a good thing, not a bad thing.

For now, that’s it.

In the next few weeks we will add Cold Stream to the UI (user interface) and we will all begin testing it. As we receive feedback and test data we will also share some data we collect on player experience and show how we put that data to use. We will include you with regular posts, polls, and updates.

We have created a special forum just for feedback on the campaign and this project (Cold Stream Forum). While the beta will only be available for PC and Mac users, we appreciate feedback and ideas from the entire community. This is an experiment for us, so please let us know what you think and what you would like to see in the DLC – just remember the constraints.

I wish this game was available on PS3

same here :csad:

i played the first game not too long ago at a friend's house and we had a blast playing it in co-op

my only complaint was that it was too short i think. is the second game longer or just as long as the first?

I tried "2 Evil Eyes" earlier today and I didn't think it was that that great.
Map's big without much in the sense of direction. It also lacked alot of details compared to the official maps. "One 4 Nine" was a much better set of maps, hopefully that guy gets the chance to publish them. Presumably they will make money out of it like Team Fortress 2 as it's charged on the xbox360, maybe add an option on the pc to donate money to the map makers. Which is a good idea to keep a game alive imo when Valve's resources are elsewhere for newer titles. I think they should do the same with Portal 2's Co-OP one it gets long in the tooth.
