Legacy of Kain fans?

Any fans of the Legacy of Kain series here?


I didn't like Blood Omen too much, but I got into the series proper with Soul Reaver and it's tale of a dark, twisted alternate future where the vampire lord Kain rules the realm. I dug the gothic designs of the city and villains, the cool boss battles, score and characters, and the shape shifting dynamic was a new feature in gaming.

SR 2 and 3 were pretty good continuations of the series, and I felt Blood Omen 2 was in cool in a throwback to the origins of the series kinda way, and I loved it's gothic atmosphere.

Defiance was my favourite of the series so far, and wrapped up (mostly) the series plot strands, which could get confusing at times.

Kain is one of the most bad ass characters I have ever come across, from Mobieus' death (second and third time round and when he shows Uma who is boss, even though he had feelings for her.

Soul Reaver 1 and 2 were amazing. They were like Vampire Zelda games
Sometimes I think about getting them again.
Never played Defiance, but if it's decent and it wraps up the story...

Gammy, a few reasons to pick up defiance (Im sure you can find it for a reasonable price now, too)....


Some might be considered spoilers, but believe me...you cant be spoiled because it does not take away from the bad assery.


It wraps up many of the previous storylines...not a definitive closure, but very close to it. There could still be another game, but everything is revealed such as the vampire warrior and who is the enemy.....and a heart stopping battle between Kain and Raziel 75% through the game is tense as hell.

A boss battle with Turel at last.

This title DEFINITLY has lovecraftian imagery and themes. Thats all Ill say on that one.

A greatly improved weapons and fighting dynamic, including telekensis

Mobius' death (you NEED to see this....it is sheer, sheer badassery).

Play both as Kain and Raziel.

Dude, we have similar taste in...well everything. Take my advice my friend, get your hands on this

I can get them for 5 bucks each (SR1, SR2, D).
The story in these games are just amazing (Thwippy, jus think that I'm getting movies, not old ps2 games )

Defiance serves 2 purposes. 1 unify Soul Reaver and Blood Omen into 1 series(which it does considering what happens to Raziel at the end). And clear up who is who. Which is does. Turns out Kain is the hero and Raziel was supposed to be the bad guy. Or rather Kain is the weilder and the Vampire reaver and their champion. While Raziel is the weilder of the Hildum reaver and their champion. But the game makes it quite clear that Vampires are the good guys and the the Hildum are the bad guys.

Played all of them. Thought they were pretty good. Especially because the writing (particularly the dialogue) is rock-solid and some of the best I've seen in a videogame.

You act like I gave away the whole farm. They stonrgly infer in SR2 that Vampires=good, their enemy=bad. BO2 gives them a name, Hildum. All the while supporting the inference. All Defiance does is conferm what the 2's infer.

Yeah Mobiuses death is good. As good as when Raziel kills himself in SR2. Or Kains line when he gets back to Nozgoth in Defiance.

You couldnt cut your enemies into pieces no...but you did have a decent fighting system, cool world morphing, good story and good dialogue. and decent graphics. all of which bloodrayne 2 didn't.

The only problem with Soul Reaver was that it had one box puzzle too many for a single game, an undesirable excess to say the least.

yeah, the box puzzles were a bit much, and the design team recognized there were too many, but I was hoping they'd still have other puzzles in the later games, which they really didn't

I have the exact opposite view. SR gameplay was weaker than all the others, even Blood Omen. Mostly cause of the camera.

there WAS no gameplay in the games after SR. You just walked from cut scene to cut scene, free to jump over any opponents. I counted: In SR2, there are FIVE puzzles. That's all. That's all the "playing" you do.

I LOVE the Kain series, as much of a stinker Blood Omen 2 was, I played it until I beat it. Defiance is probaby my second favorit game in the series, followed by the original Kain game.
