Sci-Fi Legendary's Live Action Mobile Suit Gundam Movie

I mean, Gundam has been a lot more multi-national in its characters than other animes. Hell, 2 main characters have been middle eastern.
Yeah, even though it’s made in Japan, any of the series has never been explicitly and specifically centered around fully Japanese characters. I mean, Amuro Ray, the very first Gundam protagonist, is only half Japanese. Some of the only characters who have been actual full Japanese were side characters who usually didn’t get as much screen time as the main characters. A lot of the time, the main characters are usually mixed race, sometimes half Japanese, or 100% an entirely different race.

Gundam G was my favorite Gundam anime series.

Had 3 of those Gundam robots when I was a kid.

I started watching that for a bit then stopped and went onto something else. But what I watched I really enjoyed. I’ll probably get back to it sometime in the future when I’ve gone through all of my backlog of stuff and have more time to watch other things.

The only other thing I’ve seen of that series is footage of the Devil Gundam, which from what I’ve read is one of the most infamous instances of horror within the Gundam series. Holy sh*t, that thing is absolutely disturbing and horrifying nightmare fuel! :wow::wow::wow:

Wait, why are the looking at a singer? And not an actor?

On the bright side it's not Michael Bay. :o

Sources tell Nexus Point News that Drew Starkey is in talks to join Legendary’s Gundam. Despite rumors claiming Benson Boone’s involvement, Starkey is confirmed to be in talks for the role.

Sources point to the film adapting Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, a gritty, ground-level story set during the One Year War. The original series follows a squad of Earth Federation soldiers battling Zeon forces in the jungles of Southeast Asia while exploring themes of loyalty, tragedy, and the human cost of war. At its heart is a star-crossed romance between a Federation officer and a woman from Zeon, a dynamic the film will mirror, with Sydney Sweeney playing a young woman on a mission to avenge her father and Starkey potentially portraying her rival and love interest from the Earth Federation.

Universal Century, or the timeline of the original show and various sequels/prequels.

Essentially Gundam, Zeta Gundam, Gundam ZZ, Char's Counterattack, Gundam Unicorn, Hathaway's Flash, with Victory Gundam even further in the future. It gets a bit tiring when there is a group of Gundam fans always advocating for a return to the UC.

I feel adapting a specific story is also a mistake, as it takes away the advantage of making a Gundam movie, making it a specific adaptation, with all the pitfalls that involves.

But hey, making MAGA Sweeney into a Zeon character seems fitting.

I'm an idiot.

I quite like 08th MS Team, but yeah. Terrible idea to do it first. Feels more niche then the general Gundam idea. But this will probably suck so whatever.

They're starting with 08th MS Team? Bold choice.

Your loss if you don't know him. Recommend Cold in July and his Hap and Leonard series.
So I decided to look up his wiki and I've never seen a director's wiki that has the MC and RT scores on it. Which begs the question, did he edit it himself. :sus
