Leonardo DiCaprio to produce Captain Planet Movie

Enjoyed the cartoon as a kid. I think I even got an action figure...

Now where's my live-action Magic School Bus, Hollywood? :argh:

I can see that one coming at some point. If not, I'll make it. :woot:

So either way, you'll get it

Still waiting for a Carmen Sandiego movie.

Never understood the power of Heart. What the hell does that have to do with the environment?

Heart was pretty much the power of life is how I always interpreted it.

Although I am excited by this idea I can't help but feel its a tad obvious having CP trying to get the planeteers back together again especially if they are all doing things that we wouldn't expect of them.

I definitely don't see this being a typical superhero type film but instead being a mature political black comedy.

Yes! Magic School Bus needs to happen!!! Wow lol alot of the 90's shows were incredibly diverse (Power Rangers, Captain Planet, Animorphs, Magic School Bus...etc)

I want Gargoyles, Dexter's Laboratory, Cowboy Bebop, and Salor Moon.

Wait...Chad Radwell is writing a goddamn Captain Planet movie?

I don't know any actress that can do Ms. Frizzle (the Friz) justice.

Eh. Its worth trying something different. Majority of these superhero movies we get end up being rubbish anyway IMO.
It's already different from other superhero franchises with the material by itself. It's an original creation that isn't ripping off anything.

Yep.

Ted Turner must be so pumped.

How would you like to see a live action CP film done? No disrespect and perhaps I'm thinking of another poster but aren't you 17 at the most? surely you couldn't have actually grown up watching CP?

I'd say heart deals with people caring about the Earth.

When people don't care you get a toxic landscape.

I highly doubt smallville fan is 17 since he/she identifies as a 90s kid.

Like i said I could be wrong, but I'm sure SF had a YouTube channel reviewing films and I'm sure he was just a teen. I'm probably thinking of another poster.

I'm 25. I lived through the whole 90's minus 11 months. So I've seen the best and the worst of the 90's and I have loads of ideas and hopes for stuff from my childhood to get that big screen treatment.

As for my CP movie, I'd honour the source material for one. I'd have a corporation which acts as a front to the Eco-Villains attempt to unleash some sort of technology which greatly damages the environment all around the world and would give them profit. Preliminary trials of this technology has awoken Gaia who sees all the major environmental disasters for the past 100 years. She goes and sends the rings out. We then flash to the lives of future Planeteers who all have lives and story arcs which more or less interact with the technology mentioned. At crucial moments, they get the rings that all help them save the day in one way or another by a fluke. Gaia then summons them to give them the backstory and start their training to work as a team.

Next we cut back to the bad guys who start to implement said technology. We then go back to the team where they encounter obstacles from training be it physical or otherwise. Wheeler is like "Screw it we need to stop the technology". We then come across that jet plane they all board to go to the Atlantic Ocean where this technology is being implemented. When they get there we find that it's too late for the Planeteers and each try their rings and fail. They then try to combine their powers and release Captain Planet who then stops the tech while the Planeteers attempt to save and divert as many people and animal life as possible. The heroes win and save the day and the Evil corporation gets shut down for now. After credits scene teases Captain Pollution.

Sorry if all that sounds incoherent and all with all this rambling. I'm just thinking off the top of my head of how a good movie can come from this IP without being too preachy.

All the leg work has been done by Snyder in Watchmen.

A blue dude with green hair tied into a man bun and his blue junk hanging out. The planet symbol etched on his chest...gritty existential crisis...

Credit to Kane for gif

and....go!

It's weird to think Captain Planet would might make it to the big screen before an adaptation of the REAL ADVENTURES OF JOHNNY QUEST considering Hollywood is grasping a 90s IPs.

If Chad Radwell plays Captain Planet, I am SO there.

If they go with a 21 Jump Street take on it and Phil Lord and Chris Miller are on it as directors with Chad Radwell as Captain Planet then maybe it might soften the blow of this misdirection in the movie.

Come on, man. Heart is the most powerful of all. Just take a gander at this:
