Now all I need are live action big budget Animorphs and Digimon movies.
And amen to Animorphs, Digimon and also Pokemon. The technology and the audience is there.
Still waiting for a Carmen Sandiego movie.
pretty sure jennifer lopez is doing that movie
Now where's my live-action Magic School Bus, Hollywood?![]()
I want Gargoyles, Dexter's Laboratory, Cowboy Bebop, and Salor Moon.
I don't know any actress that can do Ms. Frizzle (the Friz) justice.
Yes! Magic School Bus needs to happen!!! Wow lol alot of the 90's shows were incredibly diverse (Power Rangers, Captain Planet, Animorphs, Magic School Bus...etc)
I'm 25. I lived through the whole 90's minus 11 months. So I've seen the best and the worst of the 90's and I have loads of ideas and hopes for stuff from my childhood to get that big screen treatment.
As for my CP movie, I'd honour the source material for one. I'd have a corporation which acts as a front to the Eco-Villains attempt to unleash some sort of technology which greatly damages the environment all around the world and would give them profit. Preliminary trials of this technology has awoken Gaia who sees all the major environmental disasters for the past 100 years. She goes and sends the rings out. We then flash to the lives of future Planeteers who all have lives and story arcs which more or less interact with the technology mentioned. At crucial moments, they get the rings that all help them save the day in one way or another by a fluke. Gaia then summons them to give them the backstory and start their training to work as a team.
Next we cut back to the bad guys who start to implement said technology. We then go back to the team where they encounter obstacles from training be it physical or otherwise. Wheeler is like "Screw it we need to stop the technology". We then come across that jet plane they all board to go to the Atlantic Ocean where this technology is being implemented. When they get there we find that it's too late for the Planeteers and each try their rings and fail. They then try to combine their powers and release Captain Planet who then stops the tech while the Planeteers attempt to save and divert as many people and animal life as possible. The heroes win and save the day and the Evil corporation gets shut down for now. After credits scene teases Captain Pollution.
Sorry if all that sounds incoherent and all with all this rambling. I'm just thinking off the top of my head of how a good movie can come from this IP without being too preachy.
It's the environmental message it has and its exclusively environmental theme that makes it unique from every other franchise and what makes it the most relevant 90's superhero franchise as we still have environmental problems today. I mean just check out this article:Aside from the nostalgia factor which isnt very important anyway, I cant really see what would be so different about CP compared X-Men or PR etc.
I think we can sacrifice Captain Planet and have something original come out of it and I think a political black comedy would be an interesting way to go about it.

11 Storylines From 'Captain Planet' That Predicted What the World Looks Like in 2015
I'd be a little more ok with this version clearly inspired by Don Cheadle's version if they also greenlit another animated series on Netflix or something like Voltron. I just don't want to be disheartened that another generation of kids would miss out on what Captain Planet is really about, especially in this day and age.
I think it's a pretty sound consensus that audiences have had enough of depressed superheroes thanks to Zack Snyder's Superman.(That is unless they were inherently depressed like Batman, Punisher etc etc)
man, one of my favorite cartoons along with Captain PlanetAlso loved that show. The opening theme is epic!

Is captain planet even human?
I thought he was like an elemental energy being anthropomorphised planet-consciousness or something?

Definitely not human but I think when they say down on his luck they dont mean he will have stubble while drinking a beer and playing Russian roulette at home alone in the dark.t:

Captain Planet is really about being well-meaning but awful. This is the show that inferred that baby killing countries had the right idea because our population is getting too big.
I dunno, I kind of think the Don Cheadle skits pretty much destroy the potential of Captain Planet as a movie.
Captain Planet was always a dumb hero.
I'd argue that the Don Cheadle parody inspired the stupid direction this movie's taking. Captain Planet wouldn't look as dumb in this day and age if they did more cartoons of him like Transformers and TMNT.I dunno, I kind of think the Don Cheadle skits pretty much destroy the potential of Captain Planet as a movie.

Me neither. The direction of this is that this takes place years after the show. So the kids would be in their 40's. So Wheeler would be bald and has a gut.I love this idea but I don't love the idea of a washed up Captain Planet.
I hope they get that girl from Our kind of traitor as linka

I also remembered this funny skit.

Meh, it wasn't a very good show. Captain Planet was a two-dimensional character at best.
