Let's Prove to Marvel that Cyclops is COOL

Anyone got the cyclops blob fight that they can put up? i'd love to see that fat bastards face.

What the heck? I didn't know that Ororo spoke Portuguese!

How about Cyclops obliterating Sinister? Sure he just reformed again eventually, but as anybody else ever done that to him? Nope.

Ok, so we've proved that Cyclops is a powerful chap, but is he really cool (like fonzy) ? No, but I thought a lot of his popularity was down to the fact he was a bit square, down-to-earth and not that cool - making him quite cool. See what I mean?

cyclops is "cool" because he is not tremendously confident or "all-poweful"; he's a brain-damaged orphan with some real issues. It is his insecurities and brooding, combined with his tremendous leadership abilities (ok, and his distinctive look and awesome optic beams) that make him a well-rounded character and therefore, "cool"

ok - so he's not "technically" an orphan with Corsair flying around, but if you grew up in an orphanage, you're an orphan to me

I think Cyclops´coolness stems from his professionalism, I used to LOVE his Danger Room sessions back in the day when he was the leader teaching new combat tactis to Storm, Wolverine, Colossus and Nightcrawler.

You could see that the guy really knew his business and that you could rely on him.

That´s what made him cool.

Not his love life since it´s been sucking since Jean "died" in the Savage Land, WAY back.

that was the key moment, from there it was all downhill.

Mourning, Jean´s return only to see Jason Wyngarde hitting on his girl, , death in the moon following the Dark Phoenix saga, Maddy Pryor, Jean´s return from a cocoon in the river only to see friggn´Logan hitting on his wife, death again......... ugh!

And another post mortem ownage of Jean:

I mean the guy makes out with some blonde bimbo on the grave of his recently deceased, cosmic powered wife, who has a habit of coming back.

Scott's secondary mutation is having enormous mutant balls. I adore him.

I hate the guy but i can't help but respect him.

I liked Cyclops, he was dull but a good and honest guy who was always there for everyone. But then they tried to make him more interesting with the whole mind affaire with Emma and stuff, which was totally out of character.

I dunno, sun eating dead again/lives again/clone again wives who are flirting with canadian mass murderers, alternate reality children (3 of them) and merging with ancient evils will change a guy's character.

Hell, after my first wife came back to life, I never been the same again myself either.

Oh like the time he left his wife and child? Or was on the rebound awfully quick after Jean's first supposed death? I wouldn't necessarily call what he did with Emma out of character.

Also, keep up the great work guys. Cyclops rocks.

When did he leave his wife and children? And he got with Emma after jean's death which was after they had already had his character have an affiar.

What reason did they give for that, was it because she was a clone of Jean made dy Sinister or something like that?

He ended up leaving Madelyne and Nathan.
They were supposedly dead you know. He went back for them but the house was blown to smitherines....and by the way the kids name was Christopher, not Nathan.

Furthermore Jean manipulated the past so Emma and Scott would get together, without Phoenix interfering the two actually parted ways immediately following Phoenix's death...hence "Here comes Tomorrow".

No, because Jean came back to life and he wanted to go see if it was true (go see her, really).

Yeah, she had told him a couple of times that she didn't want him to come back before they disappeared. Cyke realized the error of his ways and tried to go back to his wife and son but they weren't there anymore.

Yes but he did not leave them officially until around issue 17 or so, when they all supposedly died.

So he left them to see if someone he loved for years came back to life, and then he thought his wife and son blew up? What really happend? (I hadn't read that stuff) Did he get back together with Jean right away?

I'm having a hard time fallowing the Jean and Emma stuff, Are you saying that Jean made it so that Scott and Emma got together right after her death? And that if she hadn't done that they wouldn't get together? So they are together right now because of Jean?

Most people refer to him as Nathan anyway (when they don't call him Cable that is). Either way, he left them to go for Jean, and Madelyne expressly told him that he might as well not come back if he went. Nonetheless, Cycke went, knowing the consequences. Sure, what happened next wasn't his fault and I don't actually blame him for going, but the thing is, he did leave his wife and child behind. Heck, he even went and formed X-Factor. He should've gone home, but he didn't. I call that leaving your wife and child.

Fall of the Mutants, everyone thought all the X-Men were dead and then Maddy went off the deep end, Sinister had her records erased from existence and the Marauders went off to kill her and kidnap the child. Eventually they kidnapped the child in San Fran, put Maddy in a coma, she was recovered by the X-Men.

I liked Scott with Jean better as well, but how bout we all stay on topic? :p

The whole Jean and Cyclops stuff is very confusing. Up until recently all I had to go on for his character were recent comics, starting from Jim Lee's X-men and the cartoon. From then on he seemed like a dull but good guy, and thats why it seemed out of character when they had him have a mind affair with Emma.
I think he was an interesting character then, when I thought he was a dull plain leader of the X-Men.
