Let's Prove to Marvel that Cyclops is COOL

cyclops is cool because despite the fact that he's got a very straight-forward, non-versatile power, (sure it has some kick to it but its pretty basic), despite the fact that he broods alot and isn't exactly social, despite all that he holds the reigns over what may be the most powerful team of superhumans on the planet. now he also is the unofficial leader of all the remaining mutants on the planet with xavier and magneto pretty much out of the picture.

Yeah, I liked that Scott showed up in X-Factor to tell Siryn about Banshee. It gave me the impression that Scott's really in charge of everything, doing all the little, ugly jobs that the other X-Men don't want to but are necessary to hold the mutants together.

Cyclops vs. the rest of the X-Men. They were brainwashed into thinking he was Dark Phoenix, so they were really going all out. Scott, on the other hand, had to hold back to avoid hurting his teammates. He won anyway. (with a big assist from the Danger Room, but still....)

cyclops is "cool" because he is not tremendously confident or "all-poweful"; he's a brain-damaged orphan with some real issues. It is his insecurities and brooding, combined with his tremendous leadership abilities (ok, and his distinctive look and awesome optic beams) that make him a well-rounded character and therefore, "cool"

Exactly. What makes Cyke a great character is his humanity.

Dispelling an argument of the "Cyclops sucks argument"... I"ve heard people use the excuse that he was beaten by a powerless Storm for control over the X-Men. This was true, but most don't mention how it was later revealed that Madelyne had mentally made him let her win. That argument does not hold water

And I don't have a scanner, but the part in Eve of Destruction where he and Wolverine were surounded by several dozen genoshan guards and Cyke took them all down with one ricocheing blast... or when he did the same thing in the same arc taking out Blob and Random.

Also, his sacrefice to save Nate Grey.

My personal favorite Cyke moment is when he killed a guy who survived a Sentinel attack. At the pleading of Wolverine, as to put the man out of his misery, of course.

I saw an episode of X Men Evolution that fooled me for like two minutes Cyclops was cool. Juggernaught came at him, and he unleashedh is full optic power, knocking down juggs (I assumed he was out cold). I thought 'that was bad ass'. Then seconds later, juggs got up. cyke unleashed it full blast,,,juggs moves foward...tension waiting to see how long juggs can take it...but then juggs gets him, and cyke falls unconcious into his hand, destroying ANY cool he had built up in that moment.

that´s a testimony to Juggernaut ´s resilience, not Cyclops´coolness.
By your logic, anyone who´s not able to bring Juggs down is uncool.

But seriously, not saying Juggs isn't tough, but they built cyke up to be bad ass, and for a moment it worked but then it all just crumbled away...

Unless Scott is working alone, there's no way he can be bad-ass or let loose with his powers. Hell, even if he was alone, he'd never be able to cut loose unless it's against an enemy like Juggs who can take a severe beating.

In fact, in that Evolution episode, Scott nearly killed a bunch of innocent civilians, as well as destroying much of the dam he was trying to protect, because he cut loose.

He'd kill everyone in sight in 3 seconds or less. Just open his eyes, take off the visor, and Scott has his own little demolecularization thing going for him.

thats what he did, took off his visor and hit him full blast...it slowed juggs down but not enough. It was cool for a few seconds though...
