He certainly looks a bit on the fruity side, but Veidt is pretty asexual - he is, in his own way, as ascetic as Kovacs. He doesn't drink or smoke. He has no wife, girlfriend or life partner (other than a big red *****...cat) suggesting that he abstains from sex. His fortune seems to be obtained for the purpose of carrying out his scheme to save the world and as a personal challenge rather than the gratification of personal greed and the pursuit of hedonism.


If he could screw anyone... it'd be himself.

First off, I never said it bothered me if the characters were gay. Quit trying to paint me as a homophobe because you misinterpreted my post. But if you listened to the people around here, the book supposedly "confirmed" that Rorshach, Veidt, Hollis, Bernard, Malcom's wife, Sally, Oster's co-worker, the fat man, that dog on page 11 and the dude from the Black Freighter were all gay. People are reading too much into things and trying to pass them off as fact. It's annoying and I was simply making a joking little comment about some of these "theories".

I dont think so. He just did it as a test and for the fun of it.
The background is CGI ala 300 so it would probably blend in better with that trailer and futhermore Watchmen wont have the CGI-background.
And I sure do hope Rorschach will look less clean and the fedora will look different.

You have to understand that comics and scifi/fantasy entertainment has grown to such a large extent in the last 20 years in part because of its popularity with the gay communiity. Why is this? Well many superheros, or heroes in genereal are marginalized in their world settings. X-men(the movies, not the comics) was an allegory for modern homosexual culture and how the culture at large reacts to it. This appeals to homosexual fans of the various 'nerd' generes like sci/fi, fantasy, horror and superheroes. In fact there are entire novels written from the gay perspective that, just like general sci/fi, range from trash written for no more reason than sexual stimulation to very good characters and plots. Having many gay friends I have noticed that some unfortunately feel the need to make as many characters in their favorite generes gay as possible. Just like a lot of strait people (usually guys because we all know most women are just a few tequila shots away from fooling around with another woman) think that every gay person they meet is out to "turn them gay," many gay men think that most straight guys can be persuaded to jump in the sack with them. I think a little wishful thinking may be going on when people claim that either Ozymandius or Rorschach were gay.

I thought it was implied by Hooded Justice's reaction when he caught the copmedian trying to rape SS1, but never actually confirmed....

and Capn Metropolis, i thought it was purely the old "defends himself too much, must be gay" theory cos he was so right wing and reactionary, fighting societies ills and evils like promiscuity and homosexuality and commie-ness. the old self loathing thiong.
