So, something odd happened while I was watching Sherlock Holmes last night...it was towards the end and it skipped what appeared to be 1 or 2 scenes. So I had to go all the way back to start where it skipped at. But that shouldn't happen. Back when I watched stuff on my PS3 I never had a blu-ray skip.

Any ideas why it would skip scenes randomly?

Always try troubleshooting it first. Play the disc on another player (if you have one).

If it skips on another player, odds are, it's the disc itself.

If it doesnt skip, well then at least you can look in why the particular player is skipping.

Also, you may need a firmware upgrade for your DVD player. You can get them for free by calling the customer service # in your LG manual most likely.

Samsung are notorious for defective Blu Ray players. I had a similar problem with 2 samsung players and they offered to replace it with a shipping fee. I ended up doing an exchange at the store, but certain discs still have that problem. The only brands that I'm aware of that don't have the skipping problem were Panasonic and Sony brands.

We are dealing with man made products... Nothing's perfect, haha... That said, I've got a Samsung bluray player and have had it for over 2 years with no problems (knock on wood) ;)

Both my players came 'bundled' with the the 5.1 Samsung Home theater systems and they can't be bought separately. When I looked online via amazon, there were numerous complaints about it, and if you type in "Samsung defective blu-ray" you will see that there was a class-action lawsuit over them as well.

All I'm going to say is, I really don't think anything will help it, sorry to say.

:pal:

Only in America.

Couldnt Samsung just issue vouchers or credits for the people with bad players and give them new ones? Why the need to sue?

Because they can? This isn't like the RROD, Samsung was reluctant (at least for me) to even pay for shipping. Their customer service's answer to everything was to exchange the player instead of finding out why certain Blu-Ray's skip scenes and crash. They want to blame the studio and publisher of the Blu-Rays, but in actuality, it's obvious the blu-ray reader and the cheap and inferior hardware could not handle the load.

Good god, trying to access BD-Live is pointless, even with my 60gb/sec bandwidth speed. The shoddy processor inside these players can barely handle thumbnails loading.

It was easier to go to the store and simply return the crappy system.

Because they can? Sillyness... especially when I can't even imagine on what grounds. Were these players eating peoples fingers instead of discs or what?

I understand the frustration with electronics... I installed the $h*t for 6 years and repaired them for just as long. But yeah... when you're fighting a big machine like Samsung... just exchange it & don't buy their products anymore. There are plenty of other choices out there.
