Comedy Liam Neeson Firing Up ‘The Naked Gun’ Reboot for Paramount

I was a bit worried in the first half of the teaser cause it felt 'off' but the ending gag actually did a lot to turn me around and go "I think they get it". That was definitely a joke I could imagine in one of the previous films.

I liked it. It would be nice if GOOD spoof movies could make a return. I feel like it’s a lost genre. I watched Top Secret the other day for the first time in like 20 years and most of it still really holds up. It’s a shame those “Date Movie” idiots ruined this genre for years.

the Date Movie had some great bits tho like the obviously male and non white stunt man on the motorcycle :funny:

The young girl/mask thing definitely felt like a Mission Impossible reference where the masks get more outrageous by every sequel that goes on.

So elaborate that Ethan wears an old man one in the later films. :o

The teaser trailer is fun and funny! I'm ready to laugh in August!

I first saw the original movie on HBO and I was laughing out loud, and I'm not someone who usually laughs while watching "comedy" movies.

I wasn't looking forward to this at all but that might be one the funniest teasers I've seen in a while and now I want to see it Day 1.

Liam Neeson is such a great fit for this franchise and I hope this is the BIG sleeper hit of the summer and they bring back quality spoof movies again.
I want a Superhero Movie II filmed in IMAX!

It appears I'm in the minority, but the opening got an audible laugh from me.
The more I think about it, the more I'm ok with it. It's totally in line with the type of humor. It also plays with the archetype of Liam Neeson's action roles. And Mission: Impossible. It's fine.
I really hope the movie is great. I'm dying for the triumphant return of this type of comedy in cinemas.

I don't know if anyone has pointed it out but another funny bit about this to me is the age difference between Liam Neeson and Paul Walter Hauser (72 vs 38). Both playing the sons of Leslie Nielsen and George Kennedy who were both of similar age. It's not made a big part of in the teaser but I thought about it and chuckled.

I don't know how truthful this is, but I've read in several places that the movie is also mentioned as The Naked Gun 444¼: Law of Toughness.

It could be that Ed had children of various ages, like Frank did.

I wonder if there will be any references to Frank Jr's Stepmother, Jane (played by Priscilla Presley)

I'm very nostalgic for spoof-type comedies like Naked Gun, and I liked the teaser, so I hope this works. Neeson can be weirdly funny sometimes, and this might be a good way for him to riff on his latter-day Taken, more action-centric and tough-guy roles.

Also, I gotta respect the boldness to put that OJ Simpson/Norberg joke in the trailer. I was not expecting that to get referenced!
