Live-Action Avatar: The Last AirBender Movie

I want whoever thought of this to die. I want their kids to die. I want their grandkids to suffer from chronicly painful boils all over their skin. I want their great grandkids to never get laid. A pox upon their house. A POX!

Hollywood's is seeing huge $$$$, almost guaranteed $$$$ with these films. Unfortunately, the list of talented directors and such with the vision necessary to bring these types of films to life seems very, very small. Worst so, the studios will tailor the film to make money rather than have it stay true to what made it successful in the first place.....(sigh).

I love the show dearly, and am excited about this.

I wanna see what they do with the film, I want to see how loyal they are to the tv show.

Of course I'll be mad if they mess it up, but if they do it justice I'm sure I'll enjoy it!

Nah. It's at it's funniest when animated. It's the style that does it.

What about a Johnny the Homicidal Maniac movie?
I'd love to see like Rob Zombie do that! or Ted Raimi!
I'd pay to see that.

Hmm... it will have to develop it's own appeal. The cartoon is one thing, the live action will have to be another. The idea of them getting a kid with the kind of charm and intensity necessary for Aang to work strikes me as unlikely... maybe the kid from Lady In The Water and Heroes could do it... MAYBE, but some people would think he's not white enough.

To say nothing of the fact that all of these kids, including the main character at 12 and possible toph at 12-13 are supposed to look like exceptionally talented martial artists! Not an easy thing to accomplish by ANY means.

Possible, but this film has a few hurdles before being any good...

Well kids can learn martial arts as well as any adult(if not better) and with the right choreographer, I'm sure they'd be great. I say this because it's easier to get kids that can act and teach them martial arts than it is to get martial artist kids and teach them to act. Yuen Wo Ping to me is a great choice because he is not only a great fight choreographer but a great teacher as well. If you can make Uma Thurman and Keanu Reeves look like martial arts gods then you are the king.

The cast is supposed to be asian by the way. I don't think I've ever even seen a white person on the show. Everybody seems to be of Asian or Pacific Islander decent (lookwise. I mean the people of the water nation look like eskimos).

 Personally, instead of that pale Nickelodeon carbon copy, someone should buy the license for the real source and make a live action Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind franchise (including the Manga sequels).

Wait! Disney owns the U.S. distribution rights to Studio Ghibli's films. Aarrgh!

the point of all adaptations. it's why sin city rules supreme and why marvel films eats mega slop.

I would envision a Avatar film to be along the lines of the latest spat of chinese mythology films. Great cinematography and superbly choreographed martial arts scenes. The show doesn't have that big summer movie feel. It's almost like watching an Indie film at times or one of Disney's older films when the artform and character were paramount.

I don't know how about Ang Lee or the drector who did Jet Li's movies. This is not Shamylans fortey. Now somone who can do epic setting would be better. If there gonna do a cartoon series. Do Dragon Ball Z, Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist. For adults M. Night.

Hmmm... I would watch a Fullmetal show, but I'm not sure if there's any Fullmetal origin style storyline that fits in a 2 hr movie.

TED Raimi???
You want to see Joxer direct a film???
All right, won't complain there.

I think Inuyasha and Fullmetal are the two cartoons that could have a great 2 hour and 15 story done. They are full of great stories. Just make it to where there is some great climax conclusion. Take them farther then the cartoons. The story of Ed and Al should have a great set up. Show there encounters with teacher the Alchemist academy. Fullmetal can do a 2 hour film. Inuyasha has epic all over it because the four main good characters are so spread out. Who is with me to rather see Inuyasha then Avatar The Last AirBender.
