LOGAN by BKV and Risso

I have a vague recollection. Something about being very good and the vanishing into thin air like it never existed.

I can. One shots like those are lame city. Just get together another ongoing for chrissakes.

The Patriot one's being written by Brubaker. Brubaker automatically makes them not "lame city." :o

True. But seriously, I feel like Marvel's just patting me on the head and telling me to run along with these.

Well, that's basically what they're doing--just trying to keep the Young Avengers fresh and alive in readers' minds. But it's not really their fault, it's Heinberg who's stalled everything. I really wish they'd just get Wells or someone to write a new ongoing and have Heinberg as a consultant for ideas, or just forget about Heinberg altogether. Contrary to his seeming opinion, the comic book industry is not just his little playground for pet projects. :o

Well, like I said: I don't like it. And it's not Heinberg's fault. How could it be his fault? He doesn't own the characters. Marvel does. It's Marvel's fault that instead of a continuation of a successful book, we get a series of one shots to "tide us over". **** that.

Yeah, that's residual annoyance from Heinberg for choosing to do Grey's Anatomy over Young Avengers in the first place. It really is Marvel's fault for not getting their ass in gear and moving ahead without Heinberg. I know Joe Q stresses creativity and loyalty to creators, but come on; it's clear Heinberg isn't giving up the cushy Hollywood lifestyle to write comics again anytime soon.

So much truth.

And that's an even bigger problem to me. What's with the loyalty to the creators and not to the characters, or I don't know, the goddamn fans? Breevort's job used to include protecting and preserving the characters' integrity. He ****ing sucks at his job these days. It's not even that the bottom line is the almighty dollar. I get that. It's a business. It's always been a business. The difference is a lack of creativity, a lack of respect and a lack of integrity. And that's across the board. Marvel, DC, all of them. Start telling good stories again instead of relying on sales spikes from shock value garbage, dammit.

God, it makes me mad sometimes. :cmad:

Don't worry, you'll eventually wear yourself out and grow indifferent to it. It's been happening for a long time and it looks like it'll continue indefinitely. About all you can do is hope you're lucky enough to get someone like Slott or Brubaker or Busiek on your favorite characters--writers who take it upon themselves to preserve the characters' integrity and really have a feel for them to begin with--rather than a Bendis or Millar, who twist the characters around to fit their stories' needs with no regard for who the characters are.

I know the cycle. I know how it goes. I've been reading comics since I was 9 years old. I'm going through the cycle of being pissed off and fed up. The Spider-Man TRAVESTY is what set it off. I'll come down. Eventually I'll get back to taking everything with a grain of salt. That'll probably be next week when I get a double dose of IIF.

Let's get back on topic folks.

Dew just told me that Tropico impersonated pj, not me. Love you too peejaaaaaaaaay

To be honest.... He probably gets good ass pay for Grey's Anatomy. :o

I knew calling you out would lead to me the real person. HA! Way to make an ass out of yourself, Trop!

I never doubted it. Which is why Marvel needs to cut their losses with him and move on with a new YA series by another writer. Or even just put out a mini-series by some other creative team and see how they test.

Jeph Loeb following his outline would be fine. Or even Gage or Wells. The longer they wait, the more they're chipping away at the copies they could've sold.
