Bought/Thougt Cinco De Mayo Edition. SPOILERS CONTAINED WITHIN

Happy calls Stan Lee Larry King in the movie. Stan's wearing King's signature suspenders and everything. It made me chuckle. :D

OMG! That was Stan Lee? I totally missed that. The scene went by so fast, and I was just thinking, "Oh crap, not another Larry King sighting in a movie." Now I want to see a still of that scene.

It was so quick that I saw it and then about five seconds later it clicked and I was like "That was Stan Lee!!!"

Each of those three points could have made for some nice storylines; but, they were ruined by putting them all together. Also, Tony's alcoholism is a big part of his character; yet, they made it seem as if his abuse of it was mainly due to his possible death. I think a superhero movie could have sent a nice message for kids to learn the destructive nature of alcoholism. In the end, it was just poo-pooed away.

I think I read somewhere that Favreau and the writers decided, and I think rightfully so, that with all the stuff they wanted to put into this movie that a serious problem like alcoholism couldn't really be properly addressed fully. I mean, you try to bring it up and solve it in one movie and it could easily come off as being cheesy or forced. They've been slowly developing his alcoholic tendencies and I think it'll pay off in Iron Man 3.

Yeah, I'd rather see Tony's alcoholism develop slowly instead of simply rushing it in Iron Man 2.

I think they are. I looked at his frequent drinking in the first movie as the onset of his alcoholism and his birthday binge in the second as the tipping point where it went from just drinking a lot to a possible addiction.

Yeah, I think they are handling the alcohol very well. I'm glad they didn't rush into it and they let it develop over the course of a couple movies. Also with the tone of the films what they are, the whole alcoholic lecturing would've been such a downer.

All this talk of Larry King has me wondering what other Marvel Movies he's cameo-ed in? I don't remember EVER seeing Larry King in ANY movie?

I don't know if he's ever appeared in a comic movie (which is pretty surprising, if he hasn't); but, including tv and movies, he's played himself about 100 times, I think. It's just quick little scenes; but, he, as I said, sure ****es himself out for anything that comes his way. (BTW, I think he first did it in 1984 with the movie, Ghostbusters.)

Lots of newsy folks do that. It lends credibility to the fictional world. Hell, even Jon Stewart's done it a couple times.

Yeah, it was Stan Lee... as Larry King. :yay:

I know Larry King did a scene or two in John Q... my second favorate movie of all time.

Since you all are talking about Iron Man 2 and its links with the greater Marvel U, the only thing "good" that could come out of the "ultimatizing" of the Spider-Man movies (an idea I hate) is if these movies too connect with the the other Marvel movies.

They aren't gonna "connect" until Sony gives up the license and Spidey swings over to Marvel Studios proper. Where he belongs. Which ain't gonna happen until Sony milks him for all he's worth and no one ever wants to see another Spider-Man movie ever again.

Alas, don't expect Spider-Man, the FF, or the X-Men (and I think possibly Daredevil and Elektra) to connect with any of the other Marvel movies. Their rights are all tied up with other studios.

Although, really, the only ones that bug me out of those characters are the FF. Not a big fan of Spider-Man, the X-Men, or Daredevil, and they don't really need to crossover with the Avengers characters much. The FF always had a nice working relationship with the Avengers, though.

Yeah, realistically, Fox and Sony won't be letting those licenses go for a long LONG time. As long as those movies generate at least a decent amount of income, Marvel will never have control over Spidey, X-men, and the FF. Man i dream of the day where we could be watching an FF movie and see Spiderman or DD swinging by for a quick cameo. Little things like that would be awesome to see.

Buck Rogers #11

This isn't a terrible book; just not that original or exciting. Buck has been going from one adventure to another with very little character development, beyond him being from another time and feeling a bit out of place. I should really just drop this book.

It's canceled anyway, so there is probably only one more issue to go.

Although Marvel/Disney could always just buy back the movie rights, couldn't they? I mean sure, it would cost 'em so much money I can can see why they wouldn't bother....but in theory, They could if they wanted to.
