Horrible to hear this happening again just glad it was only a knife he had and not a firearm, means he did a lot less damage than he otherwise would have.

East London has a reputation for both gun and knife crime, much of which doesn’t seem to get reported. I doubt this incident was specifically linked to traditional terror suspects (extremists) but rather just another knife wielding troublemaker.

We don't know much yet, but this does seem very different from a mugging or a brawl outside a pub gone bad. So, my bet would be that it's either a religious fanatic or a frustrated incel as opposed to your basic knife wielding thug.

True, and it appears in this instance you were right, it’s not just a thug job but it’s not exactly an organised terror group either (that’s more what I was getting at). It was a single person recently released from prison (for a previous murder, or attempted murder) if what I’ve read is accurate.

I’ll never understand the justice system. It’s failed at least two families yesterday.

I could be wrong but that seems to be the way most terrorism works these days. With radicalised individuals acting alone. No need to set up sleeper cells when you can just use the internet to manipulate troubled people into violence. That must be even harder for authorities to fight than traditional terrorism.

You're probably closer to the truth than we'd all like to think, though I'd imagine these terrorists to be trickier, simply because the cowards sat behind their keyboards can only implore (somewhat) troubled people to do their bidding, and those keyboard cowards don't have as much power as say, someone in a room enforcing a set of beliefs or rules that must be followed, along with a well executed plan (9/11 or 7/7 for example).

The pros and cons of terrorism I suppose; not that there are any true pros to it, but organised groups are easier to track (so that would be a pro for us).

Apparently there are some weasel politicians trying to debate whether the terrorist needed to be shot as if they know what was going on from the blurry camera phone footage.. yes, yes he did need to be shot , he just stabbed & killed 2 people in addition to injuring several others.. oh & he was wearing a suicide vest which was later discovered to be a fake, but the officer didn't know that.

If anything, he should have shot him on sight, immediately, for the simple fact that it was wearing a suicide vest.

As gravely serious as this situation is, this fact does make me smile.

The mental image of an immigrant Polish chef wielding a narwhal tusk like a jousting lance to run down a terrorist gives me chills.
