the thread name sounds weird BUT....i would love to know which Joker related TPB is thee Coolest...(never read Batman comics much)...i Love the joker and to get prepared for TDK...i wanna know what the most exciting book that has Joker in it...
i heard somethin bout the Killing joke and stuff like that...

There are many.

For a good cross-section of a lot of the different Joker stories in DC comics history, check out "The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told" (and the excellent re-issue purple hard-cover called 'Stacked Deck' which has even more stories in it)
and then there's the usual Joker goodies.
The Killing Joke
Dark Knight Returns
Batman: Secrets
Arkham asylum
Batman: The Man Who laughs
A Death in the Family
Mad Love

Batman Confidential is currently re-telling the pre-Joker origin, and its been pretty good thus far... its not in a 'graphic novel' format so you'll have to buy the individual issues.

There are plenty of great Joker stories, and make sure to rewatch the old batman animated series if you want to see the Joker at his on-screen finest!

If you're not looking to spend much, definately go for the Killing Joke. Its usually pretty easy to get a hold of, and it's not a long read and is quite cheap. Its a great Joker story as well as a great story period, and he's really sinister in it (its the one where he paralyses Batgirl and takes naked photos of her bleeding body just to mess with Commissioner Gordon). You'll love it. Definately a first pick for a Joker tale.

Um... 'The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told' is mostly golden-age and 60s Joker, which is probably not what you're after, but its a good cherry-pick of all of the different ways they've told joker stories up til the 80s (there's some great stories in there for sure).

Dark Knight Returns is a blast, but the Joker is only in about a quarter of it (the rest is Batman coming out of retirement, beating up mutants, beating up two-face, beating up soft-hearted liberals, and beating up Superman) Its a must-read for any Batman or Joker fan, but its probably a bit more expensive.

Batman the man who laughs is difficult to track down, so it'll be expensive :D

im willing to pay...so its settled....im going to buy Killing joke and track down Dark Knight Returns

THANKS FOR THE HELP

Not a problem, glad to be of help.

Flip through Superman Emperor Joker, I enjoyed it.

And do get A Death In The Family!

You basically just told him to buy a book then spoiled everything in it.

I'm gettin a Ton of Money from my work...and i only spend it on gas...updates to my car..and dates...so i wanna stack up on Batman/Joker books...which one did you guys have the most fun reading?
also imma check out those books as well

The best are easily these two:

Batman: The Man Who laughs
The Killing Joke

U might wanna check out Batman: Secrets aswell.

the man who laughs sounds awesome...Right now im stuck between
The Killing Joke...The Man Who Laughs...Dark Knight Returns....hmmm

Well TDKR is a brilliant Batman story, not so much a good Joker story apart from the last act with him in, but thats just my opinion.

Between the three your torn on, The Killing Joke is probably the best Joker story of them. DKR is more Batman, and has some Joker but he's not the main feature in that. And the Man Who Laughs is also very good, but you'll probably have some trouble finding it. Your best bet for that would probably be eBay.

You guys rock...thanks for all this help!...If you had fun reading any other series of Batman/ Joker books...Post um!

Also the TDKR isnt classic Joker at all, so if you do get it dont expect him to be like say... TAS.

well imma scratch TDKR outta thee Equation as for now...but...Its a Choice between...the Insanely priced The Killing Joke or The Even More Insanely Priced The Man Who Laughs

I'm a lil depressed...i cannot find The Killing Joke for under 30 bucks...

did you like it?...was it action packed?...i already know it has ALOT of villians in it...
Oh, I love it.

Action packed? I wouldn't say so. It's a Noir-style mystery first and foremost. The amount of villains does distract from Batman's own characterization a bit, IMO, but overall, it succeeds as a plot-driven piece.

I might hold off then...

You sure? It's probably the best Joker story out there (tied with Man Who Laughs).

I'd get the torrent for now if you're putting off buying The Killing Joke deluxe next year. I heard the hardcover has a bunch of special features.

Just get the Alan Moore DC Universe TPB. That way, you get The Killing Joke, plus quite a few other extremely good stories.
