Lovecraft Country - Jordan Peele and Bad Robot Team Up on HBO

Love Jordan Peele and probably more forgiving of J.J. Abrams than most, but this show really lost me about halfway through the season. Felt like they tried to jam three seasons of material in a single season (hell, sometimes a single episode). Bummer too, because the premier was so good, and the entire cast was wonderful. Had potential, but can’t say I’m sad to see this cancelled.

That’s kinda disappointing but at the same time, I’m not too bummed about it. There were a lot of great ideas and great moments in this but ultimately, this show was a disappointment. The pilot was absolutely brilliant but then the rest of the episodes slowly started to feel more and more uneven, disjointed, and overstuffed. Plus, I think they got a little too ambitious. The James Baldwin monologue in the pilot worked brilliantly but having monologues in all the episodes was not as powerful IMO. The first episode also really very effectively displayed the horror of racism with the lynch mob and the sundown law town but it started to feel exploitative when they used real people and real events. Especially with the Emmet Till storyline. Apart from that, I also thought Atticus and Leti became really unlikeable.

I really liked some of the episodes: the pilot, the one in the indiana jones like caverns, the one with the haunting girls and the one during the tulsa massacre.
But the finale was really dissapointing and I remember thinking, not needing more of the story.
Great anthology series

I enjoyed the series. It didn’t always stick the landing — but credit for being creative and thematically ambitious. Better, IMO, than Mare of Easttown (good production/performances, but otherwise pedestrian). And much, much better than the renewed Raised By Wolves.

I would have watched a second season.

I'm bummed that it won't get a second season, it had the potential.

I'm really surprised they cancelled this... I thought the only way we wouldn't get a second season was if the creators decided to end it here.

Incidentally, as a music illiterate, it made me buy the closing end credit song.

You mean Sinnerman? It's been recorded by various singers. But the 10-minute-long version by Nina Simone is probably the most famous (and definitive?).

That is the one I bought.
Nina Simone, 10 min long Sinnerman. Even got the lyrics on my iTune.

I really liked it and was looking forward to a season 2. Episode 9 was probably my fave out of all 10 eps. I look forward to Misha Greens next projects.
