M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Knock at the Cabin’ (Feb 3, 2023)

After Old... I think he needs to retire.

Rationally speaking, you are probably right. However, he is at least worth some entertainment value for watching to see what terrible idea he executes in his next movie. So, as long as you don't mind that. . .

I guess he sort of has a low budget blank check with Blumhouse. Can make anything he wants for a low budget and it’ll always bring in profit for them.

I haven't seen Old but I don't think Split was enough for him to be un-shunned in Hollywood.
I think The Visit and Split is what gave him the resurgence.

After Earth should have been the career ender.

The Last Airbender should have been the career ender but it shockingly still made money.

I loved Split and feel like when he’s really on top of his game, he flies high, but when he goes off the rails, he gets ****ing rotted.

Just reading the synopsis of Old took a decade off my life.

Not watching anything from him again after Old. Borderline trash

This man cannot be put down! I thought after The Happening, he’d be finished, but then he went ahead and made two more pieces of garbage (Last Airbender and After Earth). Then he had a minor comeback with The Visit and Split, but then ruined his own trilogy with Glass. I gave Old a chance because the trailer reminded me of a modern day Twilight Zone episode, but the film was the nail in the coffin for me. I won’t be seeing anything else he makes.

Huh. Didn't know Rupert Grint was still acting.

I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of The Visit. Got to the kitchen scene at the start when the kids arrive and that was it for me.

It's a long, long time since his hey-day.

He's awesome on The Servant... that show is terrifically weird.

He's been in Apple's TV show Servant, also produced by Shyamalan. He's pretty horrible in that but I guess he liked him well enough to bring him in another one of his projects.

Getting conflicting opinions from the last two posts lol

I still haven't seen Old, but Shyamalan is one of those directors whose movies are still worth checking out for b-movie entertainment at the very least. Dude has such a wide range in quality between movies. You never know what you're gonna get.

How is this man still getting funding? Old was Lady in the Water/The Happening Shyamalan, we need The Visit/Split Shyamalan for this.

I disagree. I think Old was closer to The Village Shyamalan. Personally I liked it more than The Visit.
