Action-Adventure Mad Max: Furiosa Spinoff

Well kinda late now, unless Miller ignores Furry Road and makes this new one the true sequel. Mel Gibson can still maybe do a cameo though as another lone wanderer

I doubt we’ll see Gibson again. And even seeing Hardy again is up in the air.

We may actually get a third Max

What makes people think Hardy won't come back? Didn't he sign up for 3 movies, and considering his bankability at the moment, I would imagine WB would want him back at the very least.

We know more than the people involved obviously.

More environment puns.

If Hardy won't return, who can replace him? I'm not counting on Mel.

I guess if he didn’t come back it would be fun to see an Australian Max. But we don’t really have talented actors anymore so it would probably be some ex hobbit from New Zealand

Hardy needs to come back. I personally liked his Max better than Mel’s. If they recast, I’d still see it but I wouldn’t be as excited.

No Hardy, no Max. Unless Mel Gibson returns, which is highly unlikely.

Because he dropped out in 2003?

That wasn't his fault. And then after his arrest he became persona non grata in Hollywood for several years until he was let out of movie jail.

So if people are OK with Gibson making movies again, why not just have him star as Mad Max again? Has anyone actually asked him?

He left the project before his incident.

Isn't this suppose to be a Fury Road prequel anyway?

He told Miller he was too old and gave him his blessing to move on without him.

In 2003.

If Mel decided he was too old in 2003, would he want to do it now?

The irony is that Fury Road plays like an old an old Max. There’s nothing in there that Gibson couldn’t have played. But I guess punching Charlize Theron wouldn’t have been a good look.

I mean what I recall is that the project basically collapsed post-9-11 and it didn't really resume until years later when they got Tom Hardy.

I mean they got the villain of the original to play Immortan Joe in Fury Road. I see no reason we can't see Gibson as an older Mad Max if people are OK with him doing movies again.

Okay, well, I for one don’t want to see Gibson in movies again, especially not this one.

Yeah, Fury Road was a critical smash and a financial success. I know Theron outshined Hardy but it’s not like he was dead weight in that movie. The torch has been passed; people need to let Gibson go.

Miller then allegedly spoke to Heath about playing Max.
