I didnt see a thread yet so I thought I would start it up. The cover has been revealed for Madden 2011 and Drew Brees will grace it.

release date Aug 10th

I took a leave of absence from Madden when they made the switch to the next gen consoles. I thought they were pretty horrible up until last years game. I was really surprised with the leap last years game took. Im a big franchise guy and last yrs game was the first time i actually got through a full season since Madden 2005. Really looking forward to this years game, hopefully they continue the presentation upgrades that they started last year.

I didn't play Madden at all until next gen came out. Madden 10 compared to the others was definitely a completely different game. And it took a lot of getting used to for me. But I'm expecting this year's game to be good. Ign has a few images, and a little clip of some gameplay, just thought I'd throw that out there.

I hope Drew Brees breaks something just for being in the cover.

Lol, if he does, it'll be the fans' fault cause they voted him there.

Haha, EA set him up tho. I mean the other choices were Jared Allen, who is a punk and Reggie Wayne, who is underrated and underexposed. Drew Brees was a lock.

Yeah, those were some weak choices. They should've added, chris johnson, miles austin, and someone like adrian peterson, or percy harvin.

If I buy Madden 11 (which is probably unlikely), I'd love to play the Jets in a season mode and see if they are really good at running & defense, as well as whether they rate Sanchez high enough to be a decent QB.

Didnt find a Madden thread.

I have hated madden ever since they made killed my favorite game series ever (ESPN NFL 2k5), but this years is actually great, having now played the demo. Have you guys had a chance to play it? The animations finally dont blow, haha

Yea i was in the same boat. I played NFL 2K5 all the way up until last years game. Last years title felt like they finally put in some effort and i was really looking forward to this years game, then i played the demo. Not feeling it at all. The sound is awful and i HATE that damn Strategy Pad. You can barely make any audibles before the CPU snaps the ball. At this point im not sure if ill be picking the game up or not.

I personally don't see what the big gripe is. Madden is pretty fun.

I thought it was great last year for the first time since Madden 05. After that it was as if EA wasnt even trying. There was ZERO emotion to the game. No atmosphere. The presentation was non existent. After a handfull of games, the title became stale. For some odd ass reason EA refused to take a cue from 2K(arguably the best sports title ever) and incorporate what made that title so much fun(Sports center type presentation, half time shows, post game shows, weekly wrap up shows etc etc) up until last years Madden. With this years title, they havent really advanced anything they set up in last years game. Its as tho they took half the year off, and focused the rest on making the game more casual.

sadly this is the case with most developers that produce a game tie in every year or 2, look at the smackdown series they havent updated that franchise in years and yet they dont care because there is a fanbase that will buy regardless. you almost want there sales to tank so there forced back to the drawing board.

Yep, thats a good point. I mean it wasnt until after 2005 that Madden started to really tank, and it was in 2005 that they signed the deal with the NFL forcing 2K out of the market. Coincidence? I dont think so.

add the fact they removed features (like Owner Mode), during the switch to the next gen consoles...then added back WAY later

playmaker controls were my favorite features of 04-05, why remove the offensive ones? Instead its replaced with ******ed QB Vision

I'm not going to be handing EA 60 dollars for a roster update and negligible tweaks

Ah, I see where you're coming from. I too loved that imrpovement with last year's Madden, and if they haven't exactly done anything to advance it then that's pretty disappointing. That said, I still find the games really fun to play, and while it'll be kinda dull to see the same stuff as last year again, that isn't really the worst thing, IMO. I'm still gonna pick it up.

Yea gameplay wise the game should still be fun. I mean i purchased NCAA 2011 this year and the gameplay improvements really go a long way, but imo, its the atmosphere and presentation that will keep me playing. I mean we havent seen any NFL 2K5 esque presentation yet, but what they gave us last year was deff a step in the right direction, and i just read that they removed the Halftime Show and Weekly Wrap up show from franchise, which irked me. No excuse to remove things from the game. I definitely wont be picking this one up on release, im gonna have to try the full game before i actually buy it.

The sound is half ******ed on the demo, hopefully it's better in gmae. however, i love the gameplay, and don't mind the strategy pad. Running feels especially great. I think the improvement is more significant this year than last year's game. The new 'locomotion' system removes that horrid animation that madden has had in years' past.

Yea i really hope the sound has just been cut a bit for the demo. I mean 3rd down, at the Medowlands, as the Colts, you wouldn't be hearing silence the way the demo has it. As for the Strategy Pad, i think its an absolute mess and in no way, helps the flow of the game, however its now a moot point considering EA has already stated they will patch in the original control scheme. Im with you on the new locomotion system, it goes a long way. Its really made NCAA feel much more authentic than previous titles.

Also, as much as i hate to admit it, im not a fan of Gus Johnson in this game. I dont think that's really his fault tho, EA just cant put together good, cohesive dialog between their play by play crew the way the NBA 2K team has.

I refuse to buy a Madden game until EA no longer has the sole NFL rights. That may be a very long time, but oh well...it's not like I'll be missing much.

IF I ever buy it it will be used (out of spite) because I don't play sports games online anyway. WAY to many bad experiences.

Yea. The contract is set to expire in 2012, but thats not to say they just wont renew it again, altho there is some legal proceedings going on right now that could possibly have an effect on that exclusive contract.

I dont play sports title online either, im a strict franchise guy. So if the in game presentation and franchise presentation isn't up to par, then i just wont get much use out of the game.

I feel like the NFL has said they wouldn't do it again. Even though I hope 2k picks it back up, they've probably got years of development before they can catch back up to madden. Hopefully not.
