Yes, this could be in the Video Games forum - but really, the average Madden player is far more Sports Fan than Gamer. The Madden Franchise has it's own spot in the NFL Hall of Fame and is one of the most successful game franchises in the history of the medium.
The 2009 edition - Madden10 has me VERY excited. While I enjoy the sexiness of Next Gen Madden and NCAA Football, they have already seemed to me to lack the...for lack of a better word...heart of the latter last gen games. And this makes sense, the people playing with the PS2 engine had almost 10 years to get it right.
The new Madden seems to be aiming high. Unlike last year where the Franchise mode changed little between 08 and 09, Madden 10 has been handed to a new designer with a lot of experience on last gen Madden's dynasty (as well as Head Coach 09).

The NCAA Football 10 is not without it's own improvements. It (as well as Madden's) is getting an AI makeover. If computer code doesn't tickle your fancy, maybe the addition of Erin Andrews does?
In three days, EA will announce the cover schools of their 4 versions (PS2, 360, PS3 and PSP) on ESPN's College Gameday.
