Madden move away - Jordan 23 is taking the sports crown with nba2k11

My brother picked this up the day it came out, and he's been on it pretty much non-stop. I've managed to wrestle the PS3 back now, too. But, I take his word for it since he's a basketball freak. The Jordan Challenges are insane, and tough. Things like having to play an entire series to score averages that are set for the challenge should keep people busy for quite some time if they want to unlock the Joran career.

I've even been told that small tweaks have been huge too, like player footing, passing, etc. The presentation is simply sick, too. Watching the top plays get a Sportcenter-type makeover with picture editing and the music makes it look like someone spent the time to put the top plays together and make it look cool to look at.

They seem to have hit it out of the ballpark at the perfect time with MJ being the coverboy.

Im finally starting to have success against the computer. Dropped 98 pts this afternoon...albeit against the T-Wolves, but still. You really just have to play the game of basketball. Use your break down moves, find mismatches etc. I basically just ran Orlandos offense the way its run in real life and i had success. I got Dwight Howard going early and once they started to double him, i just passed out to Lewis or Nelson or one of the billion other shooters Orlando has.

The game is by far the best sports video game to come out. Its not perfect, but it comes closer than any other game has prior.

Just did my first Jordan Challenge it was alot of fun. I dropped 63 on the Knicks in the Double Nickel game with 62% from the field. The highlight reels at the end of games are really well done, good stuff.

First off not cool man taking out the T-Wolves like that as I am unfortunately a big fan of them haha. I agree it's crazy how this game makes you think and play like a real player would. You can't just drive the lane or pass the ball like crazy anymore. You have to be smart and I don't think any other sports game has come close to doing that. I absolutely love the player of the game montage at the end of each game. It is easily one of the best things ever in a sports game and some of the shots they show looks so real it's ridiculous.

I think you just move the left joystick toward the basket, and whichever direction you flick the shot stick will determine how you shoot, and I'm sure the modifier works some magic too. No expert just yet though, ha.

edit: You probably meant offball how do you post, I haven't got there yet But feel free to share when you find out.

Yea to post up with a player, pull both trigger and move into the defender, once he's engaged you can release the triggers.

I'm not having any success in being able to connect my Move & Navigation controllers to the game. It just keeps glitching out on me or I'm doing something wrong, I don't know.

Yea my player pretty much bites, again. Like im all for working your way up, but damn, starting out as like a 40 overall is trash.

Its a love hate thing for me. I'll love it sometimes, then hate it sometimes. What i hate is that you get penalized alot for the simplest things.

Just Jordan. You unlock him for My Player mode.

If you dont want to do all 10 Jordan Challenges but still want to use Jordan in My Player mode, just enter the code icanbe23 and that will unlock him for use in My Player mode.

Love this game, been playing it pretty much non stop since it came out. Already unlocked all of the Jordan Challenges, and currently have an franchise season going, Most realistic basketball game ever made.

Don't care much for My Player, but I wasn't aware you could play as Jordan if you unlock all the MJ challenges, I'll have to give that a try.

Anyone else have literally no access to any mode in Blacktop? It always freezes up at a black screen after the Sprite logo loading screen for me. I've tried the Dunk Contest, 3pt Shootout, and Pickup games and they always freeze. Then my system resets when I quit to the XMB.

I hope my game's not defective 'cause I can't find my receipt for it and I don't remember the exchange policy at GameStop w/out a receipt. I think this game is terrific but waay too many bugs

I havent seen that, but im on the 360. Its possible the PS3 version has a few bugs because i do know there was a problem with the custom arena music on the PS3.

Odd man. yea iv done black top on a few occasions and had no problems. Did the 3 pt shootout and played a game of 21 the other night with no lock ups.

NBA 2K11 was the best selling game of the month! Thats pretty good bc it never tends to do that well. Did better than even Fallout New Vegas. Im sure being on nearly every platform and NBA Elite's delay (now cancellation) helped.

Yea i also think its because 2K is establishing itself as THE basketball franchise to own, even without the cancelation of NBA Elite. Over the last few years we have seen that gap between Live and 2K increase. Let hope 2K continues to push the envelope and doesnt just rest on their success, the way Madden has.

Haha, i remember that game, i remember it being broken because i went 82-0 with the Orlando Magic, and the Orlando Magic were not nearly as dominating then as they are now.

NBA 2K11 is easily the best sports title since NFL 2K5. It raises the bar for all sports titles to come, especially in the animation and commentary departments.

I've heard it said that a store can sometimes wind up with a batch of defective games. I don't know how true that is, but something similar happened to me with Mass Effect. I returned it three times to the same Gamestop, wound up getting the exact same error everytime. So I tried it on another friends system, got the same error. Finally got a new copy from another store and it worked fine.

My advice, return that copy to Gamestop and get a brand new one. If they don't open it, you can try and take it to some place like Walmart and tell them you got it as a present and don't want it. Chances are they'll give you store credit for it so you can just take your giftcard and get a new copy there.
