MAG: Massive Action Game

As I expected this game feels janky as hell. The animation, character movements, and gameplay are all stiff and sluggish.

You should have played the closed BETA. The game has come on a tenfold since then, I was pleasently surprised jumping back into it, but I still don't think it's a purchase for me.

I thought it was alright, nothing special and doesn't really deserve all the recognition it is getting. The graphics aren't the greatest in the world though I wasn't expecting much and for as many people that are suppose to be playing at once, I found it to be pretty boring. I'll stick with the MW2.

I thought the graphics looked good. And I'm probably going to get this instead of MW2. It took me back to the days of playing Battlefield 2.

yeah i am definitely not getting this after playing the beta it is sluggish and Zipper could have done a better job on the graphics the controls are okay gameplay is nothing new. The concept of 256 player thing is cool but it doesn't seem as Grand as Sony was hyping it up to be

After getting plenty of playtime with the beta. This isn't a buy for me. The gameplay is fine, a few complaints but nothing major. I wished people would talk to me since that's a major major part of the game but it seems like I'm the only ever with a mic which can be frustrating. I'd have to say my biggest problem with the game is that it's incredibly boring. The maps are huge so it feels like I'm running forever to get to the battle and then oh look I got sniped by camper and noone will save me because nobody is talking and then I'm hit with a 20 second respawn what a bunch of crap. The MW2 may have its fair share of annoying problems but at least the game is never boring.

I have issues with the Beta as well, but I will hold off on my final decision on it until I can play a Demo of it. Hopefully there will be one. If not, I may not purchase it.

There's no need to wait for a demo. The open beta started on January 4th, but MAG went gold on December 20th or something like that. This "beta" is the final game.

I'm not feeling too good about Zipper advertising this demo as a beta test when game disks are being manufactured as I type this.

I honestly think the game is fun. Is it MW? No, but I don't think it needs to be.

It is fun, the problem is it's just a little plain and people can't see past that.

Dear people *****ing about the graphics and sound.

It's already been released that the BETA clients will have significantly lower grade music/sound and graphics to make it a quick download (2g) instead of a massive one (15g+).

The fully released product is supposed to be absolutely beautiful.

That being said, this game is ****ing awesome. Spend your first 4 points on revive and just sit back getting +10 per revive maxing like 500 xp within 10 minutes.

Or just get the 4x scope for your assault rifle, stand on a point where you get your FRAGO bonus and pick people off from sniper range. Either way, you feel like a badass.

I never really understood how people can base their judgement of a game strictly based on a Beta. It is not indicative of the final version.

Did you even read my last post? This ISN'T an actual beta test. The game was finished well before they released this "beta".

I read it. You were assuming that the Beta we have is identical to the game that went gold.

will the final product look identical to the beta?

Answer:Identical? Nope — the final version will sport some differences

Bottom line, this is not the version that went gold. Read the rest of the comments and you will see that not even all of the music from the gold version is in the Beta. This was just set up to test the servers, not to be indicative of what we will be available when it is shipped.

Okay i was playing it a little bit last night and it did get a little fun yesterday. The team i was with was kicking major A$$!!!

Did you even read my last post? This ISN'T an actual beta test. The game was finished well before they released this "beta".

It's a stress test for their servers, and they're still doing minor tweaks. In fact, they changed a few things in the past three days (stats aren't recorded anymore, ribbons aren't, minimap changes, few other slight tweaks). Zipper (developers) has come out and said on their forums that the beta is a significantly lower quality version than the game that's going to ship, specifically so the download was small enough that people could DL it. No one's going to let their PS3 sit there and DL like 15-25gig just to test out a game. But 2 gig? Yeah, that'll fly.

While the game might be finished, it doesn't mean that the BETA is the actual full version of the game.

Super fun!

MAG Beta vs Final Game

January 26 is just one day away with MAG arriving on store shelves worldwide tomorrow and throughout the week. Before you delve into your first “official” match between Raven, S.V.E.R., and Valor, though, we wanted to make sure that you knew two things:
  • What the differences between the Beta 5.0 and the final version are
  • How we implemented your feedback from the beta to affect the retail game on day one
First, let’s talk about the differences between the final game and the beta you tried out a few weeks ago – the most obvious of which is the mode and map count. Whereas before, the Beta version of MAG only offered six maps and two modes, the retail version has a full five modes with 15 maps to play. The final game also includes a handy offline training mode, unique armors, new cinematics, art galleries, trophies, and the always-popular Veteran Mode that lets you start all over again with a permanent XP bonus and the ability to switch your faction after hitting the level cap. Of course, graphical and audio improvements are in there too.

But our “out of the box” distinctions aren’t all there is to talk about. We’ve also addressed a number of topics that were brought to our attention when you were testing MAG earlier this month, and will deliver them to you the moment you boot MAG up with a small in-game patch (roughly 60-80 MB depending on your region).
Among these upgrades is the oft-asked-for ability to knife an enemy while you’re reloading your weapon — in addition to a pretty significant framerate increase during player-heavy games and noticeable differences in the effectiveness of every weapon and piece of armor. Moreover, we’ve gone back and added all-new light settings for every environment and increased the amount of time you can sprint before getting tired.
For a full catalog of additions, fixes and tweaks, check out our complete list of patch notes on the MAG blog.

Sounds good. I'm still going to rent it first though.

Doesn't seem like the game is going to be much better than the beta. Ill wait for official reviews and player reaction, but not feeling to highly of this one.

I still think they should fix the respawn time i mean it was ridiculous waiting 20 seconds
