Some mild new ASM spoilers so don't read on if that bothers you...

This has bothered me for a few months, but hasn't really interrupted my enjoyment of the "Back in Black" saga until now. How come in Sensational and FNSM everyone and their mom seems to know that Peter Parker/Spider-Man's Aunt is in the hospital, with everyone from Reed Richards to JJJ commenting on it, but in Amazing she's an anonymous Jane Doe and it's a huge secret until some gumshoe uncovers the truth and Peter has to move her? It started out as a nitpick, but now it seems like the revelation she's Spider-Man's aunt and Peter has to hide her is part of the catalyst for One More Day.

I guess many people know about Aunt May's case since the police investigation in ASM #543 or Kingping telling the underground world about it. But it's possible that they don't know which exact hospital Aunt May is in because Peter moved her away

Not that many people know... and the ones who do aren't talking to authorities about it.

But how does anyone know? How does Betty Brant and JJJ know? It's not exactly like Peter's been bringing it up in conversation.

Back in the day, Stan etc. would have given us a 'no prize,' to figure out an explanation, lol.

Well, seeing as there was a sniper at the motel, as well as Peter throwing a frigging car through a 3 story window... I'm guessing the mainstream news caught wind of this, asked the motel for descriptions of who was staying there, and pieced things together.

Don't forget, they took her to a random hosptial in a panic, and are on the run the whole time. All of this we're reading is actually happening in an incredibly short amount of time in MU continuity,

This is what happens when you stick a character in a bazzillion books. We have our fave characters everywhere, but the continuity gets a bit hectic in terms of how many things happen in a week.

Combining all books into ASM will probably fix this problem...

Its true continuity gets real messy when u have a character in so many books. I would love for somebody to tell me when peter has the time to hang out with the Avengers in New Avengers while he's dealing with all this other crap in Amazing, Sensational and Friendly Neighborhood.

And don't forget that five issues of ASM (issues #539 to 540) have dealt with the immediate impact of that sniper's bullet, and the whole time frame may have been a couple of weeks whereas 5 months have passed by in our time.

My theory is that all other stories where Pete's in his black costume all occur after the Initial "Back in Black" storyline in ASM, and by this time, word gets around that Aunt May has indeed been shot.

It's not perfect, but that's how I see it.

:yay:

Yea, it's one of those times where your really have to pull out the, 'it's a comic book, get over it,' card
