Would anyone else love to see this book adapted into a film? It is one of the sharpest showbiz satires in a long time. It could very well be this generations, "This Is Spinal Tap." Plus, since self-deprecation is in style in Hollywood (look at Entourage), I could easily see them getting Renee Zellweiger, Richard Gere, and Mike Nicols to play themselves. I think it could be awesome.

No fans of the book who want to see an adaptation?

I've never got around to reading the book. I only read If Chins Could Kill.

I'm with you on this Matt. I haven't read it since it was first released but seeing a movie based on this would be epic. Just thinking about the scene where he gets caught lying in that club(can't think of the name)and has to do a gun duel, seeing that acted out would be great!

You should give it a try. Its really funny, especially if you're a fan of Bruce.

:funny: such a great scene. I couldn't see a major studio bankrolling this or a distributor releasing it theatrically, but I think it could work really well as a made for HBO movie. HBO has been making really good films lately (John Adams, Recount, Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee, etc). As an HBO film this could really thrive and maybe even pull in a few Emmys.

I would love to see this made into a film!

My favorite part is when Gere and Campbell are doing the fake fight, and they fall down the stairs on accident showing it to Mike, and he thinks it is part of the scene, LOL!

This book has so many priceless scenes and no matter how outrageous (such as the duel or the police chase, or stopping an international bandit trying to steal John Dillinger's penis), how Bruce got there all feels perfectly natural making it easy to suspend disbelief. Its a really well written book and Campbell is a very talented author.

My personal favorite part of the book is the Secret Service Agent with a grudge against Campbell.
