Well, also take into account the term "fundamentalist" was once considered honorbale, and not taboo. However, let me say this much: in my opinion, anyone who uses the Bible to defend or justify things like murder is not a true follower. Scripture warns cleary, "Not everyone who uses the name of Christ is a true believer."

I've heard a few people say, "Don't judge Christianity by the acts of all Christians". Taken in the aforementioned context, I agree completely. It's time religious hypocrites stopped justifying their behavior by holding a cross in front of it. We're called to tell the truth, but do it in love, not bigotry or a "holier than thou" attitude..

Funny thing is, the term "fundamentalism" is a big misnomer. The name implies that a fundamentalist branch of a religion aims to go back to the roots-the fundamentals-of said religion. What we call "fundamentalist Islam" is actually a form of Wahabism, which goes back only about 300 years, and about 1100 years after the founding of the Islamic faith. Age of consent needs to stay exactly where it is. Ten commandments in Courtrooms, however, ARE endorsing one religion! Therefore, you either allow all, in this case Moslem texts, Hindu texts, heck even Wiccan texts, or you allow none, which is the far better solution since a Courtroom is a Courtroom and not a museum for religious texts. The Unites States have NO state religion! Therefore, it's preposterous that you want to force people to follow CHRISTIAN rules even if they are NOT Christian. The laws of the Bible are NOT the laws of the land, even if some are similar.

I recently saw an article titled "10 for 10", which illustrates the general collective mindset of liberalism in America. It's a listing of the Ten Commandments, each followed by a general description of common liberal viewpoints.


1) "I AM the Lord. You shall have no other gods before me...

"There is no God; all is god and god is all; muslims and christians worship the same god; there are many paths to god; god as you know him; reinventing god; nature is god; I am a god; Diana is a goddess; worship Mary, queen of heaven; - Remove all references to God from monuments, pledges, money, buildings, public education, sports events, graduations, etc and censor all public religious speech, especially the meaning of the Declaration of Independence!"

2) "You shall not make for yourself an idol".

"Tolerance no longer means freedom of conscience, but rather that all religions are equally true"..."the most important things in life are money, sex, power, position, prestige, houses, family, cars, vacations, sports, food, alchohol, drugs, beauty, education, political parties, psychic healers, tarot cards, cosmic consciousness, etc." ​

3) "Do not take the name of the Lord in vain"

"The God of the Bible is a myth, angry, intolerant, exclusive, unfair. No more public oaths on a bible." "Jesus was just a man, a prophet, a liar, a lunatic, didn't exist, His name is a cuss word, ban any prayers in His name."

4) "Remember the Sabbath day, a day of rest, holy to the Lord."

"Churches are for losers, emotional crutches, full of hypocrites, haters. Sundays are for work, commerce, sports, and entertainment".

5) "Honor your father and your mother."

"Euthanize your father and your mother. Parents aren't fit to teach or discipline their children, so the government must do it".

6) "You shall not murder".

"You should kill the innocent instead of punish the guilty: kill the unborn in the womb, kill the disabled in their beds, legalize assisted suicide, destroy human embryos and clone human beings like rats for research, but release the violent and the criminally insane back to society to kill again." ​

7) "You shall not commit adultery" (Clue to the Biblically ignorant: adultery includes all forms of sexual sin other than one man and one woman inside the institution of marriage).

"Abolish traditional marriage, legalize domestic partnerships, gay marriage, polygamy, lower the age of consent for pedophilia, bestiality, pornography... remove legal obstacles to every kind of sexual activity." ​

8) "You shall not steal".

"It's noble to rob from the rich to give to the poor. As long as the government does it, its legal, especially if we call it "eminent domain". A dollar is no longer 1/20th of an ounce of gold; its a "commodity" whose value is "living", i.e. wothtless unless the princes at the Fed give it value. Inflation has reduced the value of money to practically nothing since 1916 so liberals could build the Nanny State. "Fairness" is to redistribute wealth from those who earn it to those who don't, just don't call it "charity". The wisest man who ever lived , Karl Marx, taught us "to each according to his needs, from each according to his ability" is the road to utopia... even if we have to take it by force."

9) "You shall not bear false witness".

"Perjury is illegal for corporate capitalists and the vast right wing middle class, but is not expected of Democrats like Bill Clinton, or anyone who lies in the name of advancing liberal ideology that undermines these commandments. The end justifies the means."

10) "You shall not covet (envy) ..."

"Who are you to judge?! That is HATE (lest the truth expose the heart of malice that lurks within... and just to make sure nobody exposes the secrets of men's hearts), we must have Political Correctness, Multiculturalism, Hate Crimes, Sensitivity training... totalitarianism of the mind and mouth."

When was the last time someone put up moral texts from the Koran, Torah, Hindu or Buddhist scriptures INSIDE a COURTHOUSE in your Nation? When that happens you can cry foul because that is a violation of separation between church and state. The free exercise clause prohibits the State of endorsing one religion. Ten commandments in Courtrooms, however, ARE endorsing one religion! Therefore, you either allow all, in this case Moslem texts, Hindu texts, heck even Wiccan texts, or you allow none, which is the far better solution since a Courtroom is a Courtroom and not a museum for religious texts. You say it's an offence to Christians, when people demand that they follow the RULES they themselves set up? Wow, talk about the biggest hypocrites on earth. It's just like I said, you people are all about laws and rights but when someone actually comes and calls you to account for your words you start to cry and moan cause you're not getting special privileges any more. Well, you guys are Unamerican to the core, the laws set down in the bill of rights and the constitution are not what you want to follow, you want to replace it with the ten commandments. Of course you're considered hateful and intolerant if you want rules to be upheld which are not BINDING. They are the rules of your religion, but your religion is not the base of the constitution. That is Kantian and Rousseauian philosophy, or in short, the truth found during the Age of Enlightenment, which you so vehemently hate. You want people who are NOT Christian to follow Christian rules. That is no different than Muslims FORCING Christians to obey laws from the Koran in the middle east. Nope it would not simply because it doesn't matter to me if he exists or doesn't exist. I have read the bible and if he is like he is written there I would NEVER follow him or accept his rules no matter what the consequences, I do not follow lunatics and egomaniacs no matter how much power and control they have over my life. It HAS been edited throughout the centuries since the original (mostly during the middle ages, a time where a King was the closest thing TO god and sometimes made people fear him), so saying thats god's word-for-word is rediculous.
