Greetings all.
Been gone awhile...but have never trully left.

I thought I would let you all know what I have been up to.

Well professionally, I have been promoted and now my title is "Information Security Engineer" I now have authority to actually enforce decisions, so that is nice.

Tuesday, I found out our company's contract was NOT extended. So sometime in 2008 I will either be asked to join a new company, asked to transfer somewhere in my current company, or get a pink slip. So 2008 will be a nervous year.

Personally, my wife and I are actually looking to adopt, we are going thru the process of fostering and adopting a child. We are early in the process, so nothing to hear on this one yet.

How have you all been?

Heeey. I'm good. Finally got a freakin job. Gonna be workin at my school's bookstore. & I passed my exams. :woot:

Well good luck on all that. Progfessional uncertainty can be a scary thing at times.

Not a day went by, that I didn't wonder what Malice was doing. Now...my mind is at ease.

yeah, its a little nervous, but I have some issues that I might be able to use and move up the food chain...so that is something I am looking at...

Well it is always a good thing to investigate other opportunities which will determine your value in the job market.

I have gone through mergers and business losses before and it can sometimes be a boon personally but as someone who worked in mergers & acquisitions, the rule of thumb is that what people look most for is how many they can downsize. Based on what you say, I can hope it will be a boon for you.

Best of luck to you and your wife in finding and adopting the right child, Malice. I know you've had your struggles with bringing one into your life, so I hope it works out for you. The professional stuff, everyone deals with these kinds of situations at one point in their career or another. You'll be fine, no matter what happens. One door closes and three more open, as the saying goes. Keep your eyes on where you want to be with your career and keep pushing forward, regardless.

It was a good year for me. Moved into a better job, had a few nice vacation trips, had successful Lasik, attended my 20 year high school and college band reunions and got reconnected with a ton of folks I'd lost touch with over the years, and my wife and I are now entering our 13th week of pregnancy so 2008 is shaping up to be an even better year. I hope that holds true for everyone.

That's good, I have had many a discussion with people about "would you adopt?" I am quite surprised by the amount of people that wouldn't do it just because of the "my flesh and blood" thing. Personally it doesn't matter to me for this reason. I have a buddy I work with whom was adopted as an infant. He looks nothing like his parents, acts nothing like his parents, yet his love and pride for them is unmatched. When they come into see him once every so often you can tell when he looks back at me and smiles, it's quite heart warming.

Thanks, AM. I've got a good six months of saying "Are you REALLY going to eat that!?" to my wife ahead of me. Haha! :D

hey Malice!

Every time I saw the trailer for the Hitman movie, I thought of you.

Sorry to hear job uncertainty. Same goes for me, our bank was bought in the summer and we've been waiting to hear word since then.

Good luck to you and your wife on the adoption process
