It's still Wonder Woman. They're both really fun movies that I'll keep re-watching, and I do think Aquaman has a better third act than Wonder Woman, but it's handicapped by a mediocre-at-best script.

To me it's a tie between WW & AM, then Man of Steel

I found Aquaman was fun from beginning to end. WW stumbled in the second half, whereas Aquaman seemed to get better as the film went on. It had its weaknesses to be sure, but it felt more "comic book-y" than anything DC has done before.

Wonder Woman is still objectively the best in terms of script and characterization however I had a lot more fun with Aquaman. They’re two movies I can see myself watching again and again. Man of Steel has gotten worse as the years have passed and I can’t say I’d ever willingly watch it again.

1. Wonder Woman
2. Aquaman
3. Man of Steel

Aquaman has better action and visuals, but Wonder Woman has a better story as well as less cringe-worthy dialogue and much more three dimensional and interesting characters.

Man of Steel I don't rate at all, it's just bloated, dreary and boring.

Wonder Woman. Still has the best characterisation and story, even if they did fumble the ending. Aquaman suffers from a poor plot, and two dimensional characters across the board. It’s a visual spectacle, but little to no emotional weight. Man Of Steel is in third place. Again, a visual spectacle, but makes very poor character decisions, and is tonally all over the shop.

That’s a bit harsh to say Aquaman had *no* emotional weight. The backstory of Arthur’s parents and their connection to him was well done and those moments landed for me.

That’s why I said little to no. All of the film’s emotion stems from the parental subplot... which is lovely, but rather highlights just how devoid the vast bulk of the rest of the movie is of any emotional heft.

That’s fair I guess, it was sufficient for me. Shrug

Aquaman embraced its own nature as a comic book fantasy story. I think its simplicity is part of the reason its working so well for audiences, despite the fact that this character is much maligned in pop culture. This movie needed a ton of heart and charm to pull it off, so I think everything from the script to even the delivery of the dialog were deliberate choices.

You can tell Wan didn't set out to make Man of Steel or Wonder Woman, he decided to take full advantage of this insane world and created a wild underwater adventure story with people riding on sharks and giant seahorses, shooting plasma cannons at their enemies... I think if it tried anything else, it wouldn't have been taken seriously and thus would have fallen flat on its face.

I honestly have a hard time choosing between Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Both are great films for different reasons.

Wonder Woman has a solid script, the leads have great chemistry and are likeable, the action is decent and the story is solid. It's biggest weakness is the final battle.

Aquaman also has very likeable leads, has incredible visuals, top notch action and just keeps getting better as it goes on. It's biggest weakness is the script/dialogue.

What about Man of Steel?

Not really a big fan of MOS. The action is cool and Henry shows alot of potential as Superman, plus Zod and Faora are great villains but everything else falls short for me. I'm hoping someday I'll get to see the "boy scout", as that's who Superman is to me. And no, being a boy scout isn't boring, it's admirable! :argh:

Absolutely. And while I’m personally critical of how dumb the plot is, I will not criticise Wan for going in that direction, because it was the right decision for the movie. DC needed a crowd pleasing win. Wan knew this, and delivered.

Is Man of Steel the DCEU's worst movie?

Not in my view. That distinction belongs to BVS. I rank the DCEU films as:

1) Aquaman
2) Wonder Woman
3) Suicide Squad
4) Justice League
5) Man of Steel
6) Batman vs Superman

The first two are equally good and imo could switch places depending on my mood lol. The middle two had a lot of problems, but at least I got some entertainment and enjoyment out of them. The last two didn't resonate with me at all! Do the last two have some strong points going for them? Sure. But overall, not a fan of Snyder's take on the DCU.

Pretty good list. Are your bottom 2 close?

My list would be:
1. Wonder Woman
2. AquaMan
3. Justice League
4. BvS
5. Suicide Squad
6. Man of Steel

Nah. BVS was an even bigger disappointment for me than MOS was. That film has too much going on and made me dislike the DCEU Superman even more than MOS did.
