After what we've all ready about the production of this, can it really make a profit?

Really? The last blockbusters he were in were Benjamin Button and Inglourious Basterds. Hardly "blockbuster" blockbusters.

Just saying what he's perceived as.

So has anyone else seen it yet? I'm thinking about waiting till it shows up on bluray.

With the overseas box office market the way it is now, of course it can. It just depends if it can get that high overseas (Brad Pitt will help).

The budget is stupid for a film like this, however seeing the film last night, it looked fantastic. I mean if you're the type that would go to a zombie movie, this is the one to go to. While it lacks some of the storytelling that 28 days later had, it more than makes up for in fantastic cinematography and great visuals.

What I especially loved is that the film doesn't waste time. It gets right into things, there's no long expose on Pitts family, just one scene of them having breakfast together, then the next minute they're in a car and all hell breaks loose.

3.6 midnight for a movie of this type is fantastic though, it's only that the budget is going to make it difficult for this film to perform, and I don't know if the Walking Dead fans are large enough to drive the films profits.

This film may "flop", but it won't be for making a bad movie. This film knows exactly what it is, and who it's target audience is, and it's the best looking zombie movie ever produced. No it's not Shakespeare, and it doesn't try to be. Pitt keeps the film grounded, and delivers a solid performance.

7.5/10

What I find funny is that anyone I've talked to about this film doesn't know its about zombies. When I tell them, they seemed a little shocked and confused.

I haven't read the book yet but, even though it is flawed I really enjoyed the film. I thought Pitt was pretty good and that Forster improved his game in the action department and otherwise.

The ads have been trying to conceal the zombie aspect by not outright saying it for some reason. An attempt to keep it a surprise or whatever I guess.

What's the OW for WWZ this weekend?

What's the OW for WWZ this weekend?

Looks like it will come in a solid no. 2 at 67M if the numbers hold. There was a huge rush to see this film.

All the talk about MoS WOM hurting WWZ was a bunch of bunk.

Like I say, if you like zombie movies, this is your film. The plot is serviceable, and there's little if any character development, but there is lots of awesome zombie action, and the film is just a non stop thrill ride. Also some of the best cinematography I've seen in a horror film. The scenes in Jerusalem alone are worth the price of admission.

Sounds cool. However, I think they may have had withheld too many money shots in trailer, and they might've done it to preserve some surprises for the audience, but at the same time it confuses moviegoers who don't know what the movie is about. Sounds like it will indeed rake in the dough this weekend.

the budget went from 125 to 200 mill I think this would have been a hit if they kept it at 125.i see it makin about 150mill domestic

Just saw it. Really enjoyed it.

The crowd too from all accounts. Round of applause at the end. Really hoping for a follow up...

They should have done a little more in the marketing maybe. My mom and a few of her friends saw it and had no idea it was a zombie film. They were appalled.

Lol, did everyone think World War Z was just a cool name?

Jeez. What were people expecting exactly? I don't see how you can see the marketing and not see zombies...

I think some just assumed it was a literal world war movie taking place in present day with people just rebelling or something. Though soldiers gunning down mountains of living people would place it squarely in R territory.

I haven't seen a single trailer that indicated zombies whatsoever. If I didn't know the source material (like your average Joe) I'd probably have no idea it was a zombie movie either. It's not like they showed you a zombie up close in any of the trailers.

I'm curious what they thought the tidal waves and tower of people were. Maybe it wasnt clear it was zombies but it was clearly a monster flick

8/10 solid experience.

Obviously can't go in expecting Max Brooks. But its still a high budget zombie flick with an A list actor. Probably the only one. And it gets points for[blackout] sequel potential.[/blackout]

I saw it an enjoyed it. I saw it opening day in the UK at a 9pm showing on a Friday night and the screening was maybe 75% full which is pretty good..

I do like how it gets straight in to it, Brad is great and helps to keep it all grounded and the visuals are all great too... I did enjoy the ending even if it wasn't your typical "action heavy" blockbuster ending.

I did feel like all the good bits were in the trailer however it wasn't any less enjoyable for it... Speaking of which though, I do wish they had left the airplane bit out of the trailer 'cos that kind of spoilt what was coming when watching it in the film.

Oh and  for Malcolm Tucker.

HAvent seen it but it seems to me like the case of this movie is similar to the I, Robot adaptation
