March Movie Box Office Madness 2017

[The Big G]

March has a big name movie slotted to come out each week next month.

March 3rd: Logan

March 10th: Kong Skull Island

March 17th: Beauty and the Beast

March 24th: Power Rangers

March 31st: Ghost in the Shell

SO I think we can safety say that BATB is going to come out on top, but who do you think brings home the Silver Medal?

Logan seems like the most logical choice but with it being rated R, it kinda limits its pool of paying customers. Kong comes out early enough in the month that it could make some bank, but Power Rangers is a dark horse for sure. I think it can safely be guessed that Ghost in the Shell will take the 5th spot.

So what do you think things play out?

This is hard without knowing how good each of the movies is going to be. I feel like quality could really change the order here. In all honesty, any of the other flicks can take second imo. But why not give it a go.

1. Beauty and the Beast: Don't really need an explanation imo.

2. Skull Island: I went and looked up the numbers of past flicks, plus Godzilla. If this is good, I think it can get over the $500m mark.

3. Ghost in the Shell: Star power of Scarlett.

4. Power Rangers: It covers a similar demographic to TMNT, plus the general curiosity.

5. Logan: R-rated, and Wolverine just hasn't done that well at the box office.

Power Rangers might go the same route as TMNT.
No one much cares about PR anymore.
It will totally depend on quality

People will make the correlation between it and Lucy.
The last spot belongs to it or PR, but i go with Ghost surpassing PR.

Wolverine movies were never a big success, and the X-Men is falling with each new installment.
It can fall more in the table that i'm getting it credit for

Kong, gets the silver, hands down.

Aside from Beauty and the Beast, I think Kong and Logan will be neck-and-neck for second place. I'll give it to Kong, but it could be either.

One problem for Kong. It comes out the week before BatB. That usually doesn't work out that well.

GitS is kinda of an odd duck.

One one hand: it comes out at the end of the month and could very well be third or lower its opening weekend.

But at the same time its Scar Jo.

Yet a lot of the anime folks are pissed because its Scar Jo playing the Major. Plus its a movies based on an anime.

Like DS said Kong is going to take a dive its second week because of BATB. Unless people decided "screw these packed theaters lets go see Kong" instead.

I think PR is going to surprise people. I've seen a lot of people interested/curious about the movie, like BATB its part of the early 90s nostalgia craze.

I know lots of people who are excited for X-23 in Logan. She'll draw a decent sized crowd.
