Margot Robbie to Headline Tonya Harding Movie

Tonya Harding biopic "I, Tonya" gets distribution http://bit.ly/2hFPjjo

Miramax has bought U.S. distribution rights to Margot Robbie’s upcoming comedy “I, Tonya,” which will center on Tonya Harding’s 1994 attack on rival figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.
Craig Gillespie (“Lars and the Real Girl”) is directing. Robbie, who broke out in “Suicide Squad” this summer, will also produce along with Tom Ackerley through their Lucky Chap producing company with Bryan Unkeless and Steven Rogers, who also wrote the screenplay.

Sebastian Stan Joins Margot Robbie in Tonya Harding Biopic
“Captain America: Civil War” actor Sebastian Stan has joined the cast of the Tonya Harding biopic “I, Tonya” starring Margot Robbie as the figure skater.

Miramax recently landed the rights to distribute the film. Craig Gillespie is directing. Robbie, who broke out in “Suicide Squad” this summer, will also produce along with Tom Ackerley through their Lucky Chap production company with Bryan Unkeless and Steven Rogers, who also wrote the screenplay.

Len Blavatnik and Aviv Giladi will executive produce for AI Film, which is financing the project. AI came on to the project in October.

Stan will play Jeff Gillooly, the estranged husband of Harding, who helped plot the attack on rival figure skater Nancy Kerrigan. Gillooly later revealed he and Harding’s bodyguard Shawn Eckhardt hired Shane Stant to break Kerrigan’s leg so she couldn’t compete in the upcoming 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer.

Besides reprising his role as the Winter Soldier in “Captain America: Civil War,” Stan also has the Steven Soderbergh heist movie “Logan Lucky” coming out next year.

Stan is repped by ICM Partners and Brookside Artist Management. Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.

All the alcohol in the world couldn't make these people look like Margot Robbie and Sebastian Stan.

Eh, I can see it working. More so than Fassbender as Jobs, and that didn't stop him from being amazing in the part.

Lol, Margot and Sebastian are pretty flattering casting.

Also holy crap Harley Quinn married Bucky Barnes. #Crossover

Worth it just so Sebastian can grow a porn mustache.

So who would Harley & Bucky hire to break some figureskating kneecap?

Interesting with the film in full swing, suddenly "new" evidence emerges in rag media-

The case against Harding was strengthened by one crucial piece of evidence found in a dumpster: a handwritten note in which Harding had written the address of the skating center where Kerrigan trained in South Dennis, Massachusetts. (That attack didn’t work out, so they had to give it a second attempt in Detroit.)

The note [written by Harding] on the back of an envelope, included the name “Tony Kent Arena,” which was where Kerrigan would be. The address: 8 Gages Way, South Dennis.

Wasn't her whole defense that they (her bodyguard and husband) planned it all on their own?
Yet she wrote the place where to go find Kerrigan?

I'm still curious to see the extent to which they dress Margot down for this role. Will it be more A-lister doing every indie movie ever, or fully Charlize Theron in Monster?

Amy Adams looks more like Tonya Harding.

I just think it's hilarious that the title is "I, Tonya".

Amy Adams looks more like Tonya Harding.

Eh, much prettier, but yeah, compared to Margot, much closer to Harding in terms of facial structure.

This would've been the dream circa 4 years ago. Too late now I feel.
It's never too late. In my opinion they're the two most beautiful and talented movie stars in the world. Get them in the same movie please!

Tonya Harding is about 4 years older than Amy Adams. She's 46 while Adams is 42, however Harding let herself go (badly) physically while Adams is still in excellent shape. IMO, Adams at Harding's age was much prettier lol

I have followed the news about Harding-Kerringan kerfuffle, it was one of craziest *****s I followed regarding competitive, pro-sports.

Harding though was an accomplished US figure skater --IIRC she was the first woman to do a triple axel in a short program. Both women were Olympians, --Kerringan got Bronze & silver medals in early 1990s.

OK, Tonya was a less than attractive woman and they cast a beauty like Margot to play her? Margot needs to trade roles with that Amy chick who got cast as Barbie. And Sebastian as Jeff? DANG! Now I definitely have to see it.

Harley really thinks she can fool the "World's Greatest Detective"? :o

To be honest, kinda more into that than regular Margot.
