Mark Millar's Many Thoughts On Superman

Why don't you give up already? The sequel isn't going to be made. Period.

mark millar has done nothing to justify him being a writer for a new superman movie.

sure, he might have written graphic novels and some superman comics,
but that does not make him worthy or talented enough to write a movie script.

mark millar is not even good enough to wipe the fresh turd from Alan moore's ass, let alone write a superman movie script.

And we all know what Alan Moore, a true comic book genius thinks of his stories being screwed by Hollywood (although Snyder's adaptation of his Watchmen comic might change his mind, here's hoping).

I think Mark Millar must have had a hardon after seeing Frank Miller getting to do his work on screen.

Looks like that ***** is still stiff for Mark Millar!
and for that "american" director he keeps banging on about!

:whatever:

Now I don't discredit Millar's honest desire to write a Superman movie or that he really likes the character. I'm just not sure his Superman is in line with what I personally want to see.

Singer, on the other hand, I do not want back. I would take Millar's unknown director over him.

There really isn't any one writer out there that would satisfy my interpretation. It would take someone who could pull elements from the comics over the past ten to fifiteen years and the Timm/Dini series.

I even like the version they did in 'The Batman'.

As to Byrne being brought on because he was a hot commodity at the time - yes - I knew that. As to what I meant by the bright, shiny version of Batman - the Sprang years are basically what I had in mind. The oversized props and the smiling, blue caped crimefighter.

I have to agree. I'm ready for someone new to take on the next Superman film. New director, cast, score, etc.

After Stardust, I'd be very fine with Vaughn, but he doesn't seems to fit Millar's description about his All-Star director.

...but why must the next director that is doing Superman fit with what Mark Millar is claiming?

Im hoping its Bay

I really don't, nothing against Bay.

I'm really surprised that their has been absolutely zero rumors about this project since that announcement over a month ago besides millar's fanboy ramblings. I guess it could be

1. That they are being very tight lipped because they are trying to put this together by 2010 and need everything in place

2. There is no news because there is absolutely nothing going on.

Have you heard any rumblings Showtime because I find it a bit strange that the only news were getting is from the MTV splash page.

I'm not expecting anything that big soon personally.

With Bay, WB knows that the action would be great. The question is whether WB is okay with Superman being a tentpole blockbuster at the sacrifice for a tight plot. I'm not saying Superman can't be both but it's likely Bay would be focused on visuals. That said I would love for Bay to do it. It would be a guilty pleasure.

Is there any actual news about it..? The whole project, I mean..

i think WB would risk the story for a big summber blockbuster box office.

me too and one of the biggest complaints from the normal populace was not enough action

they said darker. but i dont think they want superman to be so serious like TDK.
i think they already did a to serious movie with SR.
they should make a fun movie and throw some seriousnes inside.
like IM. IM didnt have enough action but at least there was the mark 1 and 2.

Sooo, somewhere between Iron Man and TDK???

Iron Man = lots of fun, action, humor, fictitious, colorful = big bucks
TDK = lots of action, serious, dramatic, realistic, dark = even bigger bucks

they should not go in the TDK territory

they shuld make a safe summer blockbuster movie.

Between IM, Hulk, and TDK, I feel like this summer taught a lot about superhero flicks with what works/doesn't work...
When to premiere
Movie theme
Advertising/marketing
Length of film
Action/story/performance
Special effects, pleasing the geeks, the list goes on...

Of course they can still screw it up, but we'll see I guess.

Now what's more important, the director with the vision, or the writer with the story?

If one were to come first. So, the writer would find the director (with his story) and conversely the director would find the writer (with his vision).

Did you give up asking for a re-boot when a sequel looked like it was going ahead? Are we not allowed to state what we want anymore?

It works both ways.

Singer is not coming back, and that is good.

Not IMO, Singer is an awesome director, and SR was an awesome movie, I would love to see him back.

its always been done when they didnt have any argument.
