Mark Waid

It's a good analogy. Emma will never replace Jean, but she will make things more wild.

But back to Waid. I liked the Kingdom personally because it delved into the concept of hypertime and the Planet Krypton one shot is a doozy.

I haven't seen many people mention Heavens Ladder by him and Bryan Hitch of Ultimates fame. It's one of those oversized books that cost ten bucks. It's a total trip and can stand among the best of the best JLA stories. Definitly something he must have dreamed up while smoking hash with Grant Morrison.

Definitly can't go wrong with Mr.Waid. With Rucka holding up the weak end, the 52 writers are arguably the best of the best currently. Millar and Bendis probably being their only competition.

bendis?eww he's an alright writer, basically i think helongs on street level character(DD,H4H) and leave the superheroes alone. NA and USM is crap.

OMG! LOL! Wait, you're serious? :o

Different strokes and all that.

I find USM and New Avengers to be my bread and butter when it comes to Bendis work. Though each title has had its share of stinker moments. Hawkeye as Ronin could have been pulled off much better.

Of course I'm not in the popular school of bashing big name writers simply because a story or their style isn't to my specific liking. I buy what I enjoy. If I don't like a book I don't make it my duty to b*tch about it, or tell someone who likes the book how wrong they are and how much it sucks. I say "Oops, shouldn't of bought that one." And move on.

Got caught up b*tching about b*tching. Anyone else loving Brave and the Bold? I hope they can keep this series going for a long time.

You could have at least said Powers instead of NA. :(

Is Powers really worth picking up? I'm more the mainstream type, but I still make sure to pick up the Fables books every month and just got started with Invincible.

Powers and Daredevil are generally considered Bendis' best work. I mean, even people who think USM and NA suck like Powers and DD.

I generally dislike Bendis' superhero work and I generally dislike Daredevil, but I liked Bendis and Maleev's Daredevil run. That's gotta say something about how good their run was, if even someone who has no interest in either the writer or the character still found it thoroughly enjoyable.

Powers Rocks. Best thing he's written. Alias is probably a tie with his DD run for second.

The first run of Powers was interesting, but the second volume blew.

Jenkins is more miss than he is hit. His Spectacular run was pretty good, although it lagged in spots (the Lizard story) and Origin was the only time I found Wolverine even vaguely interesting. Civil War Front Line, however, was offensively bad.

Jenkins seems to be a good writer who makes incredibly bad decisions.

what do you guys think of paul jenkins?

I think he's a great writer personally. The only two really bad comics he's ever written were Civil War The Return (which really, would've sucked anyway because he was only given 14 pages to do it in, I doubt any other writer would've done a better job considering) and the last issue of CW Frontline, which personally I didn't think was that bad. This guy still wrote the Eisner Award Winning Inhumans with Jae Lee and the awesome Sentry mini again, with Lee. Jenkins just needs to get away from being Marvel's big event tie-in writer and do some other stuff.

Jenkins' Inhumans was phenomenal. His Peter Parker: Spider-Man run was pretty good for the most part, especially his little one-off vignettes (although he did create Typeface). But when he shifted focus to more traditional hero vs. villain stories for Spectacular Spider-Man, it started to suck. Origin was decent at first, but I lost interest in it halfway through and stopped reading it. Wolverine: The End was terrible, according to everything I've heard. His first Sentry mini was good. His second Sentry mini was not. Frontline was stupid. Civil War: The Return was a useless waste of space, but that's more because it was poorly executed from start to finish, so the blame rests on many other shoulders besides Jenkins'.

So I guess I'd have to go with Leaguer and say that he misses more than he hits for me, especially lately. According to Wikipedia, however, he worked on the God of War games, so I guess he can't be all bad.
