Martin Scorsese Directing Hugo Cabret

I know this is Scorsese's first kid/family movie but is this is first PG rated film?

Just looked it up. Age of Innonence, New York, New York, and The King of Comedy are all PG.

And as for this one, I'm definitely looking forward to it. But it looks so much like The Polar Express in cinematography and design that it's not even funny.

Definitely looks like a Zemeckis movie.

The thing is, I don't see any of Scorsese's trademarks on display in the trailer. I'm getting a serious Golden Compass vibe from the movie. (I enjoyed GC, but a lot of people didn't.)

Paramount and GK Films better pray Scorsese's name and a family-friendly story will draw in enough people, and have good word-of-mouth sustain the film throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Hugo or TinTin?

I don't know... can I skip both? :woot:

Just kidding. Neither really seem like my cup of tea but I hope they both turn out well. TinTin had the better trailer though, IMO.

Guys, Marty is the greatest American filmmaker alive. Have some faith.

I have. And I am a quick adapter. Even if the movie is like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I still will see it (because I love CATCF) :D

The trailer was a bit bland but I know it won't necessarily mean that it will reflect the quality of the final product. Regardless, I must add that the production design looks gorgeous.

Although I would never imagine that Scorsese would direct a film for children, I think it's great that Scorsese is expanding with an unmarked area.

It does look a lot like a Robert Zemeckis film, at least that's how the trailer made it looked. I hated the trailer, but I think the movie will be good if not great.

Trailer didn't do anything for me but early buzz is good so I may yet check it out. Depends on how much of a kids film it is.

The trailer is much better...but I don't know. I'm getting from the trailers "decent" and I'm getting from the director, cast and early reviews "great." I'll probably see it, but I'm still hoping that it is just suffering from really inept marketing. Time will tell.

The early reviews are wildly positive.

PS: Interesting fact: If Hugo is nominated for Best Picture, Johnny Depp will receive his 4th Oscar nomination as he is a full on producer of that movie.

I loved the book. I am looking forward to this. The story is really fun, and it will be fun to see a Scorsese film without Leonardo Dicaprio or someone getting kicked to death.

'Hugo' Q&A: James Cameron & Martin Scorsese

Some interesting thoughts on 3D from Scorsese.

Also, some high praise for Hugo's 3D from Cameron. Say's it's the best 3D photography he's seen.
i am affraid for James Cameron. he talks like a greedy hollywood producer. nothing that he says sounds honest. i like Cameron's 3D. but he is to much forcing it. he should realize that hollywood doesnt care.

i saw a preview screening for this film now that i can mention it... it's bloody superb... Ben Kingsley, just please give him an award...

If you ask me, this movie looks very unoriginal.

considering how little of it has been shown I hardly see how that's a viable assumption.
