Okay, to give you guys some info as to how it works (worked), Marvel gave advanced issues to 5 websites. It was on the honor system that each website would only give the issues to trustworthy reviewers.

Unfortunately somebody from one of those 5 websites posted an entire page as an image file, spoiling something that Marvel higher ups had intended as a big announcement this upcoming weekend (see the pic in question in the OMIT thread). So the Marvel higher ups are pissed and have now canceled the advanced issues to all of the websites in reaction to make sure this doesn't happen again.

So, needless to say no more mini advanced reviews or spoilers from me. This really sucks for comicsbulletin.com (site I write for) as their day early reviews has been one of its biggest draws.

Now, I know I've given some advanced info to you guys here, but actually ripping whole pages from the advanced comics and posting them online really crosses the line. Whoever did that really screwed over a good thing.

Anyways, my editor seems confident that this will change back at some point in the future, but for now this is how it is.

Just thought you'd all find it interesting to know what's going on behind the scenes.

That's got to be annoying. I always checked in for those reviews.

Can't say I read reviews very often except in our own Bought/Thoughts, but I sympathize. It always sucks when one *****e ruins a good thing for everyone else.

But...isn't that what happens with everything? Sadly?

Can't say I'm too upset by this. I've gotten on this mindset to where I get frustrated at spoilers and such. You for example... don't bother me because you do a good job keeping your spoilers in captions or whatever, but others will quote you out in the open and spoil things for me that I was trying to dodge, such as Nova being in the Secret Avengers (already announced now, so I don't bother hiding it).

Less info given out is more secrecy to what goes on in the comics which, to me, makes them more enjoyable.

You'd think Marvel would be smart enough to get prissy over something that people actually care about.

"Oh noes! People already have seen that we're going to take another dump on the Parker marriage! Let's punish everyone!"

I doubt this would have been an issue if it wasn't another Joey Q **** story.

You'd think Marvel would be as aggressive with lowering some of their prices. I've read and heard too many anecdotes about fans either dropping or not trying a lot of $3.99 launches or titles that it cannot be easily ignored.

That's too bad, I loved reading advanced reviews, they always wet my appetite.

agreed..its not like someone spoiled the end of Dark Reign/Siege or Second Coming

Sorry it effects your work though

This is really sad to hear, especially considering i also really enjoyed Comics bulletin's reviews. :(

What's with Huxford being all ******** at Marvel? That article makes it seem like he has a big chip on his shoulder toward Marvel.

That really sucks, peope shouldnt be so stupid.

But, to be honest, ever since I found out randomhavoc wrote reviews for the comics bulletin, i kind of stopped visiting that site.:o

:)

after reading the article carefully it seems that this was an idea that editorial forced on X-men(its taking the adjectiveless book) and no one wanted to do it

I feel the same way, JH. I like the Bought/Thought Thread....but, I know that I have all the comics being discussed that I want to read; and, I won't read anything until I have read them. And, if I see everyone bragging about something being really good, I can pick up what I missed then. It's that I hate spoilers on comics before they are released. Heck, I don't even read the Marvel Solicitation Thread, because I like to read the Marvel Previews that comes out the following week, that tells me all that stuff.

Yeah I agree. I can see Marvel's reason for being ticked of course, but, call me crazy, I'd put the effort into finding out who did this rather than just throwing out the proverbial baby with the bath water.
As a few people already said, advance reviews help wet the readers' appetites for upcoming issues and a lot of people like them. Wiping out the whole thing is overkill and unnecessary.

I don't really understand this. They don't have a problem with you spoiling the content by just telling us what the teaser is, but posting the image itself is a big, red flag? What exactly is the difference of those two situations?

I think they put up the teaser O.M.I.T. and were making people guess what it was and then this came out and spoiled the mindf^%$

Yeah, I mean I understand that, but he said Marvel doesn't mind if they tell them the info (like telling what the teaser and what it teases), but posting the image itself is enough to kill support for advanced copies? I don't understand why one is so much worse than the other. Or maybe I misunderstood that part of what he was saying...

Honestly these are the same people who thought a X-men vs Vampire book will work...I try not to figure out the thought process

I don't know why Marvel wouldn't just cancel giving advanced issues to the offending website. I think making an example out of one site would send the message to the others.

Problem is that apparently they don't know which site it was. I personally think that there's some logical ways to narrow it down for sure, but I won't bother getting into details.

When it comes right down to it this is a knee-jerk reaction that I'm really hoping they reverse eventually, but that sadly they may not. Here's hoping....

You would think in this day and age they would send out the advanced issues as an image file thru email and remove all of the ads/promo's/teasers ect.
