The MAIN reason for this thread is so we can all finally lay our reasons to rest for once and for all for liking Marvel movies we aren't suppose to like and for Marvel movies we are suppose to like but don't.

How this thread should work:

1) Identify the Marvel movie(name it)

2) Give the reasons why you like/dislike them

3) Expand on the reasons

4) To update each time a new Marvel movie is released

5) To stop derailing threads that have no relevance to the Marvel movies that you are suppose to like but don't and the ones you're suppose to dislike but don't

6) Describe the standpoint in regards to what group of people like/dislike them(Marvel movies,ie from within the pro comic movie genre community or non comic movie genre fan community or both)

Okay,I'm going to kick this thread off with one Marvel movie.

Spiderman-Do I like it? The answer is no. Who makes it sound like you're suppose to like it? IMO it is the non comic book movie fans
and comic book movie fans.

Why Don't I like Spiderman? It's not good.

Why is Spiderman not good from my point of view? The reasons are because Tobey plays Spiderman, there is too much drama,
Green Goblin's suit design sucked alot, the action was boring too and there is a really cheesie feeling that I can't honestly put my finger on.

X-Men (the first one)

There's a great cast there, but nobody really delivers any kind of memorable performance. The story is pretty boring, there's very little action, too much focus on Rogue, the doomsday plot device is pretty non-threatening, etc. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of Superman Returns (which I also didn't care of).

X2 was great, and I even like X3 (it's pretty entertaining despite being totally brain-dead), but I just flat out cannot watch the first X-Men. I can appreciate it for kick-starting the whole genre, but it's just not a good movie.

You totally lost me when you said X-Men:The Last Stand was totally brain dead,it makes no sense at all to me. If it was totally brain dead then characters wouldn't do anything,no characters would do anything at all that makes sense. When I think of X-Men:The Last Stand,I think of characters doing things they have to do and need to do regardless if they did stuff wrong and didn't do things at times when it was necessary. You're the first peson I have come across that likes only X-Men:United and X-Men:The Last Stand,I don't like the first X-Men movie either.

IMO,the first X-Men movie could have been better if Sabretooth looked better and if someone else was casted as Magneto and if Magneto's suit looked better, the action was boring too. I know Ian played Magneto twice more and that his suit stayed the same in the rest of the X-Men movies, but I wasn't bothered by that because I managed to overlook the problems I have with him. I like Ian as Magneto when he talks, but he's too old looking for Magneto.

How this thread should work:

1) Identify the Marvel movie |Fantastic Four

2) Give the reasons why you like/dislike them

The actors were good choice, but not my best pick or choice. It looks like Marvel was going through who would fit the parts best, and stopped with the current cast when others were still being considered.

The stories were done wrong, the first movie was too weak and the second was just done to promote the Silver Surfer.

Alba as Sue was very out of character, almost a slease. Jonny was too childish, even for the comics.

3) Expand on the reasons

All of these factors combined made the movies what they were,a failed franchise from the start.

6) Describe the standpoint in regards to what group of people like/dislike them(Marvel movies,ie from within the pro comic movie genre community or non comic movie genre fan community or both)

Most support it because they are true fans, there's nothing wrong with that but even they need to know when it's useless.

Movie: Spider-Man 2

Reasons: Romance devoid of any logic, average fight scenes, hammy moments

Romance devoid of any logic: So, let me get this straight. Not only does MJ not know who Peter is after 2 years (despite the dialogue in the previous film), but she's also being a (insert strong language here) towards him for the majority of the film? After all those times he saved her and nearly got killed for it, I don't see why he didn't give up on her early in the film. Why should he continue pining over a girl who's dumb as rocks and has some really bad qualities?

Here's the best part, though- not only does she not immediately forget about John what's-his-face as played by Who Cares once she finds out who Spidey is, but she then expects Peter to open his arms and start a relationship with her? If I were in Peter's shoes, MJ would've got a debilitating headbutt to the uterus and a swift kick out the door.

Average fight scenes: Exactly what is said- they're average at best. Norman put up a better fight than Doc Ock, but from what I've heard from people you'd think Doc Ock was all that and a bag of chips. He wasn't, and I never felt like Peter was in the same peril he was in while fighting the Goblin.

Hammy moments: Songs like "Raindrops" should not be in a Spidey movie. Ever. I like Raimi's sense of humor, but this movie compensates for good drama with heavy-handed or dated humor way too often.

All in all, I think it's average at best. I think most people are blinded to that because a) it's Spider-Man and b) it's the sequel to a well-received film.

Spider-man 2. I liked it but it was overrated and not the best comic movie that people claim it to be. My main reason for not loving it was the villian. Ive always hated Doc Oc and found him to be boring

^IMO,the whole thing with the he's right bit with Oc from Spiderman 2 was so lame.

I don't hate Doctor Octopus. I just think that he wasn't the source of amazing action that SM2 fans make him out to be.

IMO,the cartoon version of Doc from the 90s cartoon version of Spiderman was better than Spiderman movie Doc!!

One thing I hate about most of the praised Marvel films(X1,X2,SM2)is how cartoonish the plots were.

Why must there always be a villain who has control over a machine that will destroy the human race? It's straight out of a 40s or 50s comic.

Alot of people are saying Iron Man is the best Marvel movie done to date,I'll find out tomorrow if they're spot on,which I already think they are.

They are, and- blissfully- the Pinky & the Brain style "plan to take over the world" is far more appropriate in IM than it was in SM2.

But that's Magneto's thing, he hates human beings. What would you have him do, pick random fights with the X-Men?

As opposed to say, a machine that will essentially destory the entire multiverse?

Can I do this for DC movies?

Here's the list of Marvel movies I like (not at the same level, just on some level): Iron Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 1, X2: X-Men United, X-Men, Blade, Daredevil, Hulk, Blade II, and The Punisher.

Movies I don't like: Blade: Trinity, Elektra, Fantastic Four, X-Men: The Last Stand, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

DC movies I don't like: Batman, Batman Returns, Batman & Robin, Batman Begins

I like: Batman Forever, Superman I, Superman II, Superman Returns

And I've never seen Catwoman, Steel, or Superman III and IV.

The first X-Men.

If Magneto is such a mutant supremacist, why does he build a machine that takes away his "race's" only advantage?

But surely heroes have to do something heroic? There needs to be people in danger from something, hence such things as 'doomsday devices'. Many X-Men plots such as Sentinels, Legacy Virus, Apocalypse, involve a villain trying to do something causing large-scale destruction and heroes trying to stop it.

At least there was no doomsday machine in X3. The threat was the cure, which in turn made Magneto a threat. The X-Men fought to stop Magneto, not against a machine.

Are we just talking about Overated films? Or just films Marvel promotes like heck and expects fans to like right away?

CatWomen solo movie-It just wasn't done right.

That really was the only movie I didn't like. Call me crazy but I liked the Fantastic 4 movies.

^Not entirely, but if there is an overrated Marvel movie you didn't like, then by all means you know..go for it.

Did I like Spiderman 2?? No. Why? Because it wasn't good IMO.
Why didn't I like it? Because once again there was too much drama, the action wasn't exciting, because Tobey played Spiderman again. There was also another cheesie tone the movie had that I couldn't but my finger on again as well.

the spider man and x-men films

long story short

-stupid "doomsday machine" plots
-spidey in particular, corny ass dialog and villains
-x-men being teachers instead of a tactical team

Iron Man and Batman Begins are the only ones who've gotten right IMO

Did I like Elektra? Yes. Why? Because it was good enough for me.
Who think's it sucks? Most of the non comic book fans who saw it,and most of the comic book fans who saw it.

Why did I like Elektra? Because there was enough action which was cool, there was good music,a pretty enjoyable story, and because Jennifer Garner was hot and played Elektra, she played a strong arse kicking heroin and I like that. IMO,it basically had no eye rolling moments. The story was easy to understand and didn't sound stupid IMO.

The movie had good cinematography too. The special effects were cool too.
I wanted a fun action packed/sexy movie with drama in it based off a comic book heroin and that is what I got.

TOTALLY AGREE.

I am a hardcore Spidey geek since I was 2 years old, I am ALL about the web head, My fav Superhero and No1 hero ever. I saw Spider-Man 2002 eight times at the movies, it was not until Spidey 2 in 04 that I could finally admit the films were not all that.

-Tobey Maguire is WAY too wussy to play Spidey. Spider-Man is not an emo chump- he is one heck of a tough mofo! Sure he cries when Uncle Ben dies, but you don't see him cry again until Gwen dies. Also Spidey never gets ***** slapped in the comics like he does by GG at the end of the first film.

-Where the hell was Spidey's legendary quick witted & smart assed comments he makes continually through all his fights?
A- They did not exist in the films.

-The muscle suit under the costume in all the Spidey films looks totally gay and fake. Why not get an actor who can get in superhero shape like Bale? If I was granted the role of Spidey I would kill myself in the gym for 6 months and build some real muscle. Or just get an athlete to portray Spidey in costume.

-Green Goblin costume was an embarrassment, don't tell me the GG costume could not work on screen that is BS!

-MJ living next door, going to Midtown and being the initial love interest instead of Betty Brant followed by Gwen was TOTALLY lame.

-Spidey 2 was just a sucky MTV cornball chick flick with one decent action scene tacked on near the end. The other two films were also similarly cheesy. Obviously SM3 was bad on pretty much every level 'cept for Sandman looking good.

Why does Iron Man get an awesome adaptation and Spidey don't?!
Not fare.

Yea, so suck on that Spidey-movie lovin lamos.

PS- Raimi's humor does just not work and has no place in a Spider-Man film.

^Oh,and let's not forget when Tobey looks stupid on his face when he is smiling,it's annoying just like his friendly voice. Ugh.
I just don't understand why Goblin couldn't have been given his normal costume,he would have looked so cool!!!
Omg,YOU'RE RIGHT,the Spiderman movies were missing those thought bits the whole time. It would have been cool to see them, but no. SPIDERMAN 1 AND 2 IMO doesn't deserve the big load of praise it gets. I hope The Incredible Hulk will be better than those pieces of overrated highly forgettable turds, for it's cons I can never ever watch and own Spiderman 1 and 2 on dvd,no way.

I can see it in my head,... Purple tunic, hood, boots & Gloves, Green Laytex goblin mask.. everything covered in a layer of dirt or filth.

If you don't want the classic costume go with the Humberto Ramos re-design-

-Pumpkin Bombs made from real pumpkin's housing explosives. NOT in metal casing.

There's a great cast there, but nobody really delivers any kind of memorable performance.

When was the last time you watched the movie? McKellan, Stewart and Jackman are fantastic.

Both FF movies:

1. Doc Doom was horrible. Casted all wrong!

2. Galacta-cloud

3. Thing should have been CGI.

4. Baxter Building was not up to par.

5. No recognizable theme music.

6. Jessica Alba's forced nude scenes for cheap laughs.

7. The costumes. Too skin tight.

8. Doom was not the genious like Reed in the first one. Then they tried to fix that in FF 2.
