Marvel Prepping Four Series and a Miniseries

I think we may see Misty Knight in Iron Fist.

Showing up in another show first would make a ton of sense (neither Misty nor Colleen are well known), but they're cool enough to hold their own in a series someday. Heck, put it on ABC & call it Nightwing Restorations opposite of Gotham Central, just to screw with people. :oldrazz:

How much better do people think these shows will be than Agents of SHIELD?

What a Daredevil TV-series needs to have, that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D hasn't: high-class acting and great dramatic visuals.

I wouldn't be surprised if Frank Castle shows up on one of these shows. Heck, a cool idea could be maybe Murdock has to defend Castle in court.

That's exciting. It is so embarrassing though how Marvel is just beating down DC in adapting their characters, esp ones that aren't that well known.
Not really, we haven't seen these shows yet, right now DC is winning against Marvel when it comes to television shows

Much better because there will be no network limitations. The shows on Netflix except for Arrested Development have sex, language and some violence.

Yes this is all very good news for us Marvel fans. 2015 is going to be a big year if you like Comic related movies or shows. I can't wait!

I like AoS, so I'd be fine with "as good". One of the common complaints about the series is the lack of comic characters, though, so I imagine those folks will be more willing to enjoy a show starring an actual superhero.

Why have cool characters like DD, Luke Cage and Iron Fist when you can have Scorch? ;)

But even if AoS had that but everything else were the same it still wouldn't be good. AoS has a poor cast and acting and their stories aren't that great. Castle is on ABC and has the same limitations yet is much better. Even Revenge too.

Let's not Forget Netflix shows aren't all that great in quality, even House of Cards has a weird camera work, but either way i'm hopeful of these shows.

I would love that :woot:

But they're probably not going to make stand-alone episodes and instead go for the continuous plot of shows like the ones they have, Breaking Bad and Walking dead

Of course, how good the Netflix shows will be will be dependent upon how much control Jeph Loeb has over these shows. If he has none, these shows will be better than AOS. If he has a lot, there is no hope for Marvel on the small screen.

I hope these will show up in AoS now that it's established they will be small screen heroes and their look will have been settled.

Just throwing this out there, but I could see Louis D'Esposito directing at least a couple of episodes on this project. He does the One-Shots, and there was some buzz about him doing bigger projects for the studio after Agent Carter.

So, who or what do you guys think is going to be the big threat to unite the "Defenders"? Kingpin? The Hand?

A question to everyone: what does this decision tell us about future Marvel Studios movies? it seems that even though Marvel Studios is taking risks with some obscure properties (Guardians, Ant-Man) there are some character that they consider too obscure for feature films (in this case Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and, surprisingly, Daredevil). If this is the case, if they draw the feature film/TV series line here then which characters will get the feature film treatment in the future? Right now I'd say Nova, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and the Inhumans. Everyone else, however, will go to TV. So marvel is gonna run out of new movie properties after Phase 4.

What the Netflix shows will also have to their advantage: lack of network censorship, lack of network interference, and lack of enslavement to ad revenue. Whoever the showrunners are will enjoy unfettered creative control that the Whedon clan can't claim over at ABC Disney.

As long as Jeph Loeb isn't directly involved creatively of course. Keep him in the background as a figurehead.

And the beauty of the properties they chose is that the budget on these things don't need to even be too high. The majority of DD's budget, for example, is probably going to go into his costume. These street level characters don't need all sorts of special effects and visuals.

I think that it tells us Marvel only puts out two movie a year & they'd rather save them for characters that just can't work on a television (or Netflix) budget. We probably won't be seeing any street level stuff, for example, unless they somehow get Spider-Man back. Another thing to remember is that the intention is to "James Bond" these characters, so we'll be getting more Iron Man movies someday, and there will be more Thor sequels after Hemsworth hangs up the hammer. They won't run out of characters. We've already got some major ones with tons of stories left to tell, and there are at least an encyclopedia's worth of SFX-intensive characters they haven't introduced yet. In addition to the ones you mentioned, Hercules, Ghost Rider, the Runaways (remember, Marvel nearly made this), and spinoff Avenger teams like the New, Secret, and, naturally, Great Lakes teams come to mind.

Aside from budget constraints, serial TV is an infinitely better medium to manage the comicbook storytelling. Even better, with netflix we will get the entire season all at once. That's a 13 hour story arc available at launch. In addition, censorship wont be a factor so the shorunners will be able to accurately portray the grittier nature of these characters and their stories. As a long time fan of all these characters, I effin love this idea and I have been saying since the MU hit the screen this is the direction they should go!

It's just a shame they can get bigger budgets and adapt Avengers and Iron Man, Cap and Thor in the same format.

I am so excited for this project!

YAYA DACOSTA for Misty Knight!!!
