Born Again Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again General Discussion Thread

Still not seeing anything worth checking out. I am happy to live with only the 3 Netflix seasons.
Idk this already looks much more interesting than boring season 3 or the second half of s2

Now if we can get Elektra back with a little redemption for how Netflix did her dirty, this'll automatically take the "Second best season" title

Took them over seven years to get this going again.
Hope it's worth the wait.

Would love to see her back, loved Élodie Yung as Elektra.
So far the only Defenders chapters I watched, was to see her fate.

This is gonna be different.
I don't see Marvel Studios capable of doing those three Netflix seasons of Daredevil. Their approach to serialized TV is not strong, they keep treating their shows as movies chopped in six. Netflix's Daredevil, whether you like it or not, felt like a true TV series. Ongoing storylines, all episodes same length, beginning middle and end within each episode, etc. I don't see this happening with Born Again but at least it looks like they're keeping the tone.

Here's my only big caveat; I'm a big Punisher fan. Love him just as much as Daredevil and Spider-Man.

We see him here in the trailer with his 'I'm not The Punisher currently' beard.

Which worries me. Has he - yet again - stopped being The Punisher?

I really loved Jon as Frank Castle; but between Season 2/3 of Daredevil, and 2 seasons of The Punisher, it felt like I kept getting taken for the "Frank's currently working towards becoming The Punisher we all know" for 4 seasons. And he kept resetting after each one.

Then he finally embraced it at the end of Season 2 of his own show; literally where I want a Punisher show to begin.

And I'm worried he's yet again reset.

It may depend on the circumstances. Based on the timeline of season 2, that last scene takes place during the begininng of the blip. Granted they didn't know that when they filmed it, but that could play into effect.

Only one way to find out but it ain't like Punisher's never had a beard while still operating as Punisher and I somewhat doubt Matt's gonna encourage him to go back to being the Punisher with the skull and everything. So I imagine he's just in hiding, hasn't shaved, whatever.

I’ll admit, those quick shots of legs and arms being broken did make me wince a bit. Holy s**t, this looks brutal.

Really gives “snap, crackle, pop“ a whole new meaning.

Maybe he stopped at a certain point not because didn’t want to do it anymore, but he literally couldn’t anymore because he took out everyone that was left behind by the Blip and was forced to retire. Or, maybe, whenever everybody is brought back, it descends back into so much chaos it overwhelms him and it takes an emotional and mental toll on him. Or, maybe the Blip causes him to have some sort of existential crisis about whether his mission of who deserves to live or die, be punished or spared, is the right way of doing things or not.

I don’t know, I’m just spitballing. I am admittedly speaking as someone who hasn’t watched either of the two seasons of The Punisher, so maybe there’s something that I’m not clued in on that could play into where we last left him and pick up with him.

Wait, really?

Admittedly, Season 1 is still my favorite, but still.

The ****ing "blip" should abolish any idea that the MCU is some sort of creative cohesive universe.

I cant believe its been 10 years since season one. I remember waking up at 4am that day to watch it on Netflix like it was just yesterday.

Super stoked for this show. Trailer is great!

Season 3 is actually my favorite season, but it's close between 1 and 3. But that Kingpin vs Matt vs Bullseye triple threat fight is like, the best thing ever

The Netflix Daredevil series is my favorite marvel adaptation to date. Benson and Moorhead are my favorite filmmakers working today. I absolutely cannot wait to see this.

I've seen all seasons just once but I remember loving the third one and ended up being my favorite at the time. I might have to do a rewatch soon. Haven't seen The Punisher though.

Finally a trailer. So much for the leaked one though but at least it's the official one with better quality. Looked about the same.

I am excited. Daredevil I think is hands down one of the best superhero shows. It's grounded. It's the adult superhero. It's realistic. I can take it seriously. Not that I don't enjoy most of the MCU films.

I always found it hard to believe that the Netflix (series when it was all but confirmed) that it co-existed with the MCU. The MCU matured away from the Joss Whedon style with the cheap jokes when the Russo Brothers helmed Cap and the Avengers, however I think for the most part, the MCU films still felt very theatrical with predictable outcomes. It still feels that way currently. Daredevil was more mature. I don't mean in the sense of it being violent, but it was also well written. The dialogue was more mature.

I'm so glad that the show is still canon while co-existing in the MCU. I was so worried they were going to make it more like She-Hulk, God forbid. I can't believe they were originally going to make the Netflix series non-canon. So glad the fans demand paid off. Even though MCU's Spider-Man and most of the MCU characters films feels tonally different from Daredevil, I would like to see Holland's Spider-Man collide with Daredevil, albeit, be more grounded without any pointless cheesy jokes, but Holland should still remain being the same character.

Does anyone what the time length of each episode will be for Born Again? Worried it will only be 30 minutes per episode. Hope it's 50 minutes per episode like it was on Netflix.

Moving aside, my concerns...Kingpin running for mayor...again? Or he's already mayor from what I see. I haven't read Daredevil Born Again, so I don't know much. But it seems like we've seen Matt quit being Daredevil twice already. He quit at the end of season 2, and returned as DD in The Defenders, then sorta-kinda quit in season 3...at least by banning his original red suit. We've seen Matt go through that phase before where he's cutting ties with humanity, going emo, or quit because he crossed a line. Feels redundant.

Season 1 & 3 are great. Season 2 was always the weakest one for me.

Hopefully this lives up to the Netflix series. It certainly looks like it can from the trailer.

There are absolutely some half hour episodes in there. Its just how Disney+ does productions.
